Former player and reserve side coach, Thomas Meggle has been appointed manager of St Pauli following the dismissal of Roland Vrabec with immediate effect.

The 3-0 defeat this past weekend to Greuther Fürth turned out to be the last straw for St Pauli officials who have seen their side win just one of their four 2014/15 2. Bundesliga games. The Hamburg based side sit just two points clear of the drop zone and with Meggle now at the helm they can only hope he can turn things around.

Meggle, 39, played over 100 times in three spells at the club and replaces Vrabec who had only been at the Millerntor stadium since December 2013.
