With a UEFA Champions League matchup between Atletico Madrid and Chelsea ready to get going next week, there’s a huge rumour going on that involves The Blues and Atletico’s top striker Diego Costa.

According to several reports, Chelsea are interested in bringing the Brazilian-born striker to Stamford Bridge and apparently Roman Abramovich is set to spend if he has to. A $42 million offer is rumored to be heading to Madrid and while there’s no word on Los Colchoneros accepting the bid, Chelsea wants to seal the deal before the start of the World Cup.

Costa is likely to play for Spain in Brazil’s tournament and if he performs up to the expectations, there’s no doubt his price will skyrocket. Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone already said he has nothing to say regarding a possible offer.

“It’s up to him and I will respect anything he decides”, Simeone said. “It’s normal that Chelsea sets their eyes on him”.

“We have been through this before and I only have to accept what Costa decides. It happened the same thing with Falcao – when he signed for Monaco – and it seems like Costa will be the ideal reinforcement for them, but he’s ours right now”.

Costa has been simply spectacular this season as Atletico’s main striker replacing Falcao. The 25-year-old has scored 34 goals in 45 matches in all competitions for Los Colchoneros.
