Favoritism

The match pits Benfica, who are fighting for the title, against Chaves, who are only at the bottom of the table. What's more, the Incarnados dominate the head-to-head, have better quality players and will be playing at home. They can therefore be considered the favorites to win.

As the match has taken place 38 times, Benfica have won the most, with 30 victories to Chaves' four.

Retrospect

Chaves

Benfica

In second place with 64 points, Benfica are still fighting for the title of which they are the reigning champions, one point behind leaders and rivals Sporting and with a game in hand. In their last game, they beat Casa Pia 1-0 away from home, after beating Rangers by the same scoreline and advancing to the quarter-finals of the Europa League. Before that, they beat Estoril 3-1 and drew 2-2 with Rangers in the first leg.

Arthur Cabral

One of Benfica's top scorers in the league with five goals, Arthur Cabral was responsible for the win last season. As he returns to the starting line-up, the center-forward promises to take advantage of the fact that he's up against the bottom team, and is therefore a sure bet to score at any moment.

Benfica

As the home side and on a good run of form, Benfica tend to take control of the game in the first half and have managed to turn that into goals. That's because they're up against the league's bottom side and need to win to stay in the title race. Therefore, the best guess at half-time is for the Reds to score more than one goal in the first half.

Benfica:

After an exhausting match against Rangers in Glagow, in which they won 1-0 and secured their place in the Europa League title race, Benfica had a tough time against Casa Pia in the twenty-sixth round of the Portuguese Championship. On a neutral pitch, since their Lisbon neighbors can't play in their small stadium, Benfica came away with a 1-0 victory.

Arthur Cabral scored in the 29th minute. They now have 64 points (20 wins, four draws and two defeats). They remain second in Liga Portugal, one point behind Sporting. Leão also have their fixtures on matchday 27 this Friday. A little later, they face Estrela da Amadora. Benfica have the chance to take the lead in the tournament.

They are unbeaten at home, but also have the second best record in the tournament. Of the 39 points they've scored at the Stadium of Light, they've won 35 (11 wins and two draws). They have scored 36 goals and conceded six.

Chaves:

Chaves, currently 18th in the table, are Benfica's first obstacle, coming to the Estádio da Luz with 19 points and four away from the play-off position with the third-placed team in League 2.

With just one win away from home, at Arouca (0-2) on matchday 7, the Trás-os-Montes side are one of the worst away teams, having taken seven points from 13 games. Only Estoril have fewer points to their name, with six on matchday 27. In front of them is a Benfica side with 11 wins and two draws in 13 matches at the Catedral, where they have conceded six goals.

Chaves are coming off the back of two home defeats, against Arouca (1-5) and Vitória SC (1-2), and a draw away to Gil Vicente (0-0). In their last three official games, Benfica have beaten Estoril (3-1), Rangers (0-1) and Casa Pia (0-1).

TIME AND PLACE!

The 27th round of the Portuguese Championship kicks off this Friday with several important matches. One of them is Benfica v Chaves, which will meet at 3pm and Torcedores will show you where to watch it.

Benfica want to return to the top of the Portuguese table, where they are currently second with 64 points and are coming off the back of an away win over Casa Pia. They now have the chance to top the table again, but as well as beating Chaves, they have to hope Sporting lose.

Chaves are at the opposite end of the Portuguese table, bottom of the competition on 19 points and without a win in four games (they lost to Vitória de Guimarães at home in the last round). The team has a chance to catch their breath and still hope to avoid the drop to the second division,
