The conditions were optimal this Sunday morning in La Thuile to host the last race of the weekend. The wind and the clouds we got used to in the last two days disappeared to let a beautiful sun bathe the track. The 5th Super G of the season took place in front of an impressive crowd, ready to cheer on Italians and more particularly on the local Federica Brignone

A quality top 3 to end the weekend

After several bad results and two difficult Downhills in La Thuile, Tina Weirather shines again. The young woman from Liechtenstein impressed from the starting gate to the finish area. The skier got a huge first intermediate compared to her fellow mates, she managed to keep the rythm in all sections, crossing the line more than half a second ahead of the provisional leader Fabienne Suter.

Lindsey Vonn couldn't compete today against Tina Weirather. Indeed, the American always was behind Weirther at each section and didn't get the green light once. Vonn didn't manage to ski a great technical medium section; as a result, she lost a considerable amont of speed making her unable to gain time at all in the low section. She finished 0.67 seconds behind the skier of Liechtenstein, meaning a second provisional place.

After a good top section, Lara Gut could stay in touch with Tina Weirather. The exciting Swiss racer came closer to her fellow alpine skier and friend with a dynamic ski in the technical section. After a backseat in the last part of the track, she finally couldn't compete but finished at the second place, retrograding Lindsey Vonn at the third spot.

Great results to end the weekend

After the great result of Tessa Worley yesterday in the Downhill (16th), all eyes were on the French Team. With its technical sections reminiscent of a Giant Slalom, this race was perfect for Worley to grab a result. She skied perfectly the first part but couldn't gather a high speed to claim a spot on the podium. She finally ends at a good 8th place. La Thuile ends in a even better way for the french women with the wonderful 5th place of Romane Miradoli. The young woman took her chance and signed her best result on the World Cup.

Team Italy scored another great result with 3 skiers on the top 10, Federica Brignone at the 6th place, Elena Curtoni at the 7th place and Francesca Marsaglia finishing 10th. An incredible amont of persons came to cheer on Federica Brignone, the local of the Italian stage. She started her Super G well, ease to the first twenty turns but lost all of her advantage on the medium technical part of the slope. Nadia Fanchini, who signed her first Downhill victory yesterday, struggled on the track and went down on the middle section.
