This is the 2nd weekly Vavel CBB poll. Not much has changed in our rankings. The top 10 looks relatively the same but there was still some shake up in the other half of the rankings. Still will be key games last week and key games upcoming.

1. Kentucky Wildcats (Last week #1, AP Ranking #1)- Kentucky has been on another level than most teams all season. The loss of Alex Poythress will sting but won't hurt in the long run. Last week win - North Carolina. This week - UCLA.

2. Duke Blue Devils (Last week #2, AP ranking #2)- The Blue Devils did not play a game last week. But Jahlil Okafor just had an outstanding performance against Elon. Last week no games. This week - UCONN.

3. Arizona Wildcats (Last week #4, AP ranking #3)- Arizona jumped Louisville with the win - Michigan. The Wildcats have an easy schedule for the next couple of games. Last week win - Michigan. This week at UTEP.

4. Louisville Cardinals (Last week #3, AP ranking #4)- The Cardinals struggled this past week - UNC Wilmington. But its just one bad game that they still won by 11. The game - Kentucky is becoming closer. Last week win - UNC Wilmington. This week at WKU.

5. Virginia Cavaliers (Last week #5, AP ranking #6)- Virginia has received no love for beating teams impressively. They could be the best of the ACC by seasons end. Last week no games. This week - Harvard.

6. Wisconsin Badgers (Last week #6, AP Ranking #5)- The Badgers are on the rise again destroying the opposing teams. The Big Ten will not be a difficult test for them. Last week win vs Nicholls. This week at California.

7. Villanova Wildcats (Last week #9, AP ranking #7)- The Wildcats are the least talked about team in the country. The Big East is on a rise this year, and they are the best team in the conference. Last week win at Illinois. This week - Syracuse.

8. Texas Longhorns (Last week #7, AP ranking #9)- Texas is still without their star point guard. They will give Kansas the run for their money for a conference title this season. Last week win - Texas State. This week - Long Beach State.

9. Kansas Jayhawks (Last week #8, AP ranking #10)- Kansas was up big on Utah until they allowed a huge comeback and almost lost the game. They are good as ever this season. Last week win - Utah. This week - Lafayette.

10. Gonzaga Bulldogs (Last week #12, AP ranking #8)- Gonzaga beat a pretty good UCLA team by a large margin. They can beat anyone in the country but play a fairly decent schedule. Last week win at UCLA. This week - Cal Poly.

11. Ohio State Buckeyes (Last week #14, AP ranking #12)- Ohio State will give Wisconsin a run for their money. DeAngelo Russell is playing as good as anyone in the country. Last week win - Morehead State. This week at North Carolina.

12. Iowa State Cyclones (Last week #13, AP ranking #13)- Iowa State is playing dominant basketball right now. They will make it into the Top 10 soon enough. Last week win at Iowa. This week at Drake.

12. Wichita State Shockers (Last week #11, AP ranking #11)- The Shockers may have 3 of the best players in the nation. If they played in a better conference they would probably be ranked higher. Last week win at Detroit. This week - Alabama.

14. Oklahoma Sooners (Last week #14, AP ranking #15)- The Sooners would have a better chance at winning their conference if they played in the SEC or Big East. The Big 12 is too good this year. Last week win at Tulsa. This week at Washington.

15. Maryland Terrapins (Last week #18, AP ranking #17)- The Terrapins could be a surprise team this season. When Dez Wells returns, they will be even stronger. Last week win - USC Upstate. This week at Oklahoma State.

16. Utah Utes (Last week #16, AP ranking #14)- Utah has had a tough schedule early. Their road won't get any easier here on out. Last week loss at Kansas. This week loss at Kansas. Next week at UNLV.

17. Washington Huskies (Last week NR, AP ranking #16)- The Huskies would have been ranked last week but the rankings were finalized before the San Diego State game. The Huskies are a surprise team this season. Last week win - Eastern Washington. This week - Oklahoma.

18. San Diego State Aztecs (Last week #10, AP ranking #19)- The Aztecs have one of the best defenses in the country. Sadly, they have one of the worst offenses holding them back. Last week win - Long Beach State. This week at Cincinnati.

19. Colorado State Rams (Last week NR, AP ranking NR)- The Rams deserve to be ranked after going undefeated so far. Their schedule will get tougher but they will make some noise. Last week win at Colorado. This week at Denver.

20. Butler Bulldogs (Last week #17, AP ranking #23)- Butler are one of the best shooting teams in the country like always. But will their lack of quickness hold them back? Last week loss at Tennessee. This week - Indiana.

Dropped from rankings: North Carolina, Miami (FL), West Virginia.

Others receiving votes: North Carolina, Miami (FL), West Virginia, St.Johns, Baylor, TCU, Seton Hall, Notre Dame, LSU.

These rankings will change a lot during the season. The game when Kentucky travels to Louisville next week could be the game of the year. The madness is only beginning.
