Missouri picked up a big win in its SEC opener as they took down the Tigers of LSU in overtime Thursday night.

Although the season did not start off on the best note for Missouri (they lost their regular-season opener to the University of Missouri-Kansas City), they were able to grab a win in the conference opener against an LSU team that most thought would have a big advantage on the inside.

It was Jonathan Williams III that would come up big for the black and gold Tigers with 21 points and 10 rebounds. This Missouri Tigers win is big for them as they were 6-7 coming into this game. Being able to beat an 11-2 LSU team that has a win against a ranked West Virginia team earlier this year will be huge in boosting their confidence going into their next game.

For LSU, Keith Hornsby, Jordan Mickey, and Tim Quarterman logged the best performances. Hornsby scored 17 points and secured 8 rebounds from the starting shooting guard spot. Jordan Mickey would score only 9 points, but he also grabbed 17 rebounds and sent away 3 shots. Tim Quarterman came off the bench to score 19 points and collect 6 rebounds of his own.

At the end of the night, it would be the all-around team effort of Missouri that would gain them the win in overtime. Keith Hornsby drilled a three-pointer toward the end of regulation to sent it into extra time.

SEC play will continue for these teams as Missouri will travel to Auburn next and LSU will host Georgia.
