The Texas A&M Corpus Christi Islanders were fueled by a big performance from forward Rashawn Thomas. The 6’7” sophomore left this conference game with 22 points and 7 rebounds. Guard John Jordan would chip in with his 18 points and team-high 4 assists. Forward Bryce Douvier would finish the game with a team-high 8 rebounds.

With the win, the Islanders continue to play very well in conference play as they only have 1 loss through 7 games. That type of conference play currently has the Islanders 3rd in the Southland Conference behind Stephen F. Austin and Sam Houston State respectively.

As for the Southeastern Louisiana Lions, they continue to slip in conference play as they are now 2-4 in Southland play. They put up a valiant effort in this game as they were led by Onochie Ochie who had 15 points and 8 rebounds, team highs in both categories. Fellow starter Zay Jackson pitched in with his 13 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists. The Lions would also get a big contribution from Daniel Grieves who came off of the bench to score 14 points and grab 7 rebounds.

With their conference record being what it is, The Lions are currently 9th out of 13 Southland teams. The loss would be the 2nd of the current 2 game losing streak that the Lions have going. Moving forward, Southeastern Louisiana will look to improve their conference record as well as defend their home floor.

The next game up for the Islanders will be at conference leading Stephen F. Austin. Corpus Christi could use this game to make a big statement. As for SE Louisiana, they stay at home to play in state opponent Northwestern State.
