After an illustrious 17-year career with the franchise where he set multiple NFL passing records, former Miami Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino is now re-joining the team, this time as a member of the front office.

Multiple reports have stated that Marino will join the Dolphins as a special advisor to owner Stephen Ross and team C.E.O. Tom Garfinkel.

This will not be the first time that Marino has become a member of the Dolphins’ front office. Back in 2004, he was the team’s vice president of football operations, but he quickly stepped down from the position because of family reasons.

From 2002 to 2013, the 52-year-old Hall of Fame quarterback worked as an NFL analyst for CBS. In February of this year, CBS announced that Marino and long-time partner Shannon Sharpe would not be returning to the CBS show, NFL Today. Recent NFL retirees Tony Gonzalez and Bart Scott will take their place alongside of Boomer Esiason, Bill Cowher and host of the show James Brown.

While his role with the team is a little unclear, it will certainly be nice to have Marino back in the Dolphins’ family. He is the best player in the history of the franchise, and having him around the day-to-day operations will only help.
