The Tampa Bay Times announced that linebacker Danny Lansanah of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers has had his contract tendered. By doing so, he will become a restricted free agent in 2016. This move was planned as expected as Lansanah played such a vital role for the Buccaneers defense in 2015. The linebacker crew had suffered some injuries to Mason Foster, Pro Bowl and All-Pro linebacker Lavonte David, and Jonathan Casillas. Lansanah stepped up and took the full in role quite well and eventually moved himself to a starting role.

Lansanah never really had a prominent role prior to 2014. In 2008 he was undrafted and signed a contract with the Green Bay Packers. Following 2008, he spent the next years traveling to different teams as a practice squad member. 2013 came along and the Buccaneers signed him off of the New York Jets practice squad. Jonathan Casillas was the starter and had suffered an injury that would end his season. His key moment though didn't come until 2014 as he never got a shot in 2013. Another injury and outperforming Jonathan Casillas gave him the starting role and sent Casillas packing at the trade deadline.

In total in 2014, Danny Lansanah had played in all 16 games. During that 16 games, he had 82 tackles, he racked up 11.5 sacks and had three total interceptions. Two of those were returned for a score.
