The Montreal Impact were facing the New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium in the MLS play-in round to try and book a spot in the first round on Tuesday.

A tough first half for Montreal :

The Impact got the first scoring chance of the game three minutes in when Bojan got a shot on target but Matt Turner the Revolution keeper was there to make the save. Six minutes later Tajon Buchanan got the first chance for the Revs but this time was Clement Diop's turn to make the save and keep the game tied at nil.

On the ensuing play, Romell Quioto got his first chance at goal but Turner would make another save to keep the game scoreless. Diop would follow it up in the battle of the keepers in the 11th minute making another amazing save.

Carles Gil got the next chance to score in the 25th minute, but Diop would grab the easy lob. Buchanan got another chance to score four minutes later but a better save was made by Diop.

The Revolution at this stage of the game was dominating the chances and the possession while controlling the play and putting the Impact on their toes. In the 35th minute, Teal Bunbury got his first shot of the game but Diop was acting like a wall in the net not letting them score.

The Revolution would finally get the breakthrough in the 38th minute when Carles Gil would get a great shot on goal that beat Diop far post for the 1-0 lead.

The half would finish with once again the Impact conceding the first goal of the game and trailing.

A crazy finish :

The first 15 minutes of the second half were pretty tight as neither team could get a shot on target and the momentum seemed to be shifting in Montreal's favor. Mustafa Kizza got the first shot on target of the second half after coming in as a sub but it was saved by Turner who was playing a pretty good game.

A minute later Montreal finally got the breakthrough off a set piece when Romell Quioto would head a ball past Turner to tie the game at one. The Revolution didn't get a registered shot on target until the 87th minute but Diop was there to keep the game level at one.

The game looked like it was heading to extra time but in the fourth minute of extra time, Gustavo Bou would end Montreal’s season with a great shot from the top of the box on the last play of the game. New England would take the 2-1 win and will play in the next round on Tuesday.
