- Seventh in last season’s Premier League, Tottenham are England’s lone entry in the inaugural UEFA Europa Conference League, the London club securing their passage to the group stage and a 12^th successive season of autumn participation in Europe by coming from behind to defeat Paços de Ferreira in the play-offs by 4-0 on aggregate.

- UEFA Champions League runners-up in 2018-19, Spurs reached the round of 16 in last season’s UEFA Europa League under José Mourinho, only to be dramatically knocked out by Dinamo Zagreb, losing 3-0 after extra time in the Croatian capital following a 2-0 first leg win in north London.

- Spurs are without a win in four European away fixtures, being one draw and three losses, failing to score in all three defeats.

- Harry Kane scored the added-time winner for England as they defeated Slovenia 1-0 at Wembley Stadium in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier on 5 October 2017. Eric Dier was in the England starting XI for both that match and the 0-0 draw between the teams in Ljubljana a year earlier, when Dele Alli was also a starter.
