In the stags' last match, Mansfield faced Rotherham in a friendly match in preparation for the start of the season, in which Mansfield were held to a 1-1 draw by the home side after a very close game with few chances on goal.

Mansfield Town striker Will Swan said he "couldn't have picked a better club to come to" after signing for the Stags on loan for the 2022/23 season from Nottingham Forest.
