Stan Wawrinka has yet to drop a set or service as he makes his way into the second week of The Championships. The Swiss swept past Verdasco 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 in the third round this afternoon.

The unseeded Spaniard came into the match weary after two grueling five-setters including a 13-11 fifth set against Martin Klizan. The former world number came up short on his four break point opportunities and Wawrinka was able to convert once each set from 19 opportunities he created.

The first set was level until the 10th game serving down 4-5 Verdasco double faulted on set point. The second set followed a similar routine with Wawrinka breaking at 4-3 and serving it out to take a two sets to love lead. The third set was a much closer affair, but Verdasco couldn't recover from an early break and Wawrinka closed out the match in an hour and 54 minutes. In all three sets, Wawrinka broke Verdasco late in each set in order to put a stranglehold on the set.

In a dominant showing, the right-hander kept the aggression hitting 32 winners to 21 unforced errors, firing 14 aces. Wawrinka benefited from 12 double faults from Verdasco to his 3.

Wawrinka moves on to face Belgian David Goffin in the round of 16. This will be their third time meeting each other with Wawrinka leading the head-to-head 2-0. The 16th-seeded Goffin is on a career best run at The Championships right now reaching the fourth round for the first time. This fourth round appearance for the Spaniard also matches his best career showing at a slam getting to the fourth round of the French Open.

The Swiss is bidding to become the first person since Rafael Nadal in 2010 and fifth person overall to win the French Open-Wimbledon double. Wawrinka will now get the weekend off and will play his round of 16 match on Manic Monday.
