Defending Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic made little work of Australian 27th seed Bernard Tomic, defeating him by a score of 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 in just over 90 minutes.

The world number one exhibited his superiority from the get go. Apart from the one game on his serve early on - where he had some trouble finishing off the game - Djokovic never looked in danger of losing the set.

The second set was almost identical to the first. The former 'hope of Australia' had trouble keeping up with Djokovic. There was a sense of inevitability that Tomic was going to make the first mistake in every rally.

Color commentator Tim Henman suggested that Tomic should mix in a bit of serve and volley; just to keep the Serbian guessing or give him something to think about at the least. As expected,  it didn't happen. It just isn't part of Tomic's game.

The third set was even more of the same, as Djokovic cemented his dominance to finish off the match in the exact same scoreline as the previous two sets. The Serb always seemed to have an answer for Tomic's half-hearted aggressive shots.

The two-time champion hit 15 aces to one double fault, as well as 32 winners to just 12 unforced errors on his way to a routine victory. Tomic, on the other hand, had just three more winners than unforced errors (25 to 22) and he failed to break Djokovic's serve the entire day, having had three opportunities to do so.

The Aussie, born in Germany and residing in Monte Carlo, never looked inspired. Even the Aussie fanatics couldn't help and became less of a factor as the match wore on.

Djokovic will now play a dangerous grass court specialist in the fourth round; 14th seed Kevin Anderson from South Africa. Anderson is certain to provide a greater challenge for the tournament favorite, after he beat in-form 24th seed Leonardo Mayer in straight sets.
