The Golden State Warriors are an NBA basketball team that was founded in 1946 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania as the Philadelphia Warriors. Pat Tyrrller a BBA (Basketball Association of America) person was the founder of this team. During their early years, the team was successful in the league, winning the NBA championship in 1947 and 1956. However, in 1962 they moved to San Francisco, California and changed their name to the San Francisco Warriors.

Philadelphia Warriors

The Philadelphia Warriors won their first title in their first year. They beat the Chicago Stags in the finals. After reaching two finals and one semifinal in three years, they became an NBA team. The arrival was good, in the same years, three, they reached three conference semifinals, which they lost to Syracuse. The following year they reached their lowest point in history, where they only reached 12 wins.

After three years of slump they won their first NBA title against Fort Wayne, the current Detroit Pistons, with a 4-1 overall record. Then they reached three finals and two semifinals. There was one year they did not qualify for the final rounds. The Boston Celtics were their bête noire with three missed rounds including two semifinals.

San Francisco Warriors

After this streaky streak, Franklin Mieuli bought most of the franchise and moved the club to the San Francisco Bay Area and also changed their name to San Francisco Warriors. Evidently, when they changed locations, they changed pavilions and the new one was called the Cow Palace.

After the change of ownership, name and pavilion, the year was not good, they did not qualify for the final round and it was questioned if the investment was good. The following year they reached the finals, but their bête noire, Boston Celtics, beat them again.

In the nine years they were with this name, five were in the final rounds of the tournament. They reached two NBA Finals, three conference finals (two of those three were NBA Finals) and two others reached the semifinals. They did not win any titles but came close. The Los Angeles Lakers were their new bête noire, falling in three playoffs against them.

The Golden State Warriors

In 1971 they changed their name again, to the current one, and were renamed Golden State Warriors and played all their home games in Oakland. Under the previous name they played some of their games there or in San Jose.

Four years after the last change, the San Francisco team won its first NBA title against Washington, 4-0 overall. Then they were two years away from reaching two more Finals. After that came a bad streak of 10 years in which they did not qualify to any final round, neither conference, nor obviously to an NBA Finals. A bad streak that they did not manage to reverse at any time. The arrival of important players did not make it possible to change the streak.

There was a small change of streak in which in eight years they managed to at least qualify as far as a conference semifinals, the Los Angeles Lakers twice, the Phoenix twice and the Seattles once were the ones who deprived them of going further. The Carolina team was already starting to be ruled out of a chance to win another NBA championship.

In the 1980s, the Warriors began to improve their play and win more games, but still failed to advance in the playoffs. It wasn't until the arrival of coach Don Nelson in 2006 that the team began to take a big leap in their performance, leading them to the Western Conference Finals in 2007.

In the 20 years that followed, they only qualified for the final rounds three times, once in the first round and twice in the conference semifinals.

In 2012, the team hired coach Mark Jackson and began building a solid team with players like Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green. This led the Warriors to their first NBA championship in 40 years in 2014, and to win three more championships in 2015, 2017 and 2018.

In addition to their on-court accomplishments, the Warriors have been an innovative team in the NBA, being the first team to use three-point shooting camera technology in the league in 2016. They have also been pioneers in implementing virtual reality technology in their workouts.
