With a full week of NFL games in the books, it is time to look forward to Week 2. With a ton of intriguing matchups following such an interesting Week 1, there are plenty of tough fantasy football decisions to be made.

Everybody knows to start their star players, but the goal of this piece is to help make decisions on players who are lesser valued. When deciding who to play, consider these players in Week 2 of the fantasy football season.

Jake Locker, QB, Tennessee Titans

Don’t call it a comeback! Left for dead, and considered by most to be a bust after three injury filled seasons, Jake Locker had a fantastic first week of the 2014 campaign. Locker completed 22 of 33 passes for 266 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions as the Titans defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 26-10. Locker’s impressive 2014 debut made him the sixth highest scoring quarterback in Week 1.

New Titans' head coach Ken Whisenhunt has made a very positive impact on Locker. Whisenhunt has had a ton of success coaching the quarterback position in his career, including completely turning around Phillip Rivers’ career last season. Locker appears much more comfortable and in control of the offense this season, and Whisenhunt is likely the one deserving credit for that.

If Locker was the sixth highest scoring quarterback against an average Kansas City defense, the sky is the limit for him against the Dallas Cowboys this week. The Cowboys were a historically bad defense last season, and did nothing to improve over the off-season.

In Week 1, Colin Kaepernick and the San Francisco 49ers quickly lit up the scoreboard against the Cowboys. Now 49ers had huge games last week, but their tough defense was able to hold the Cowboys’ offense down. This led to a conservative second half approach by the 49ers, holding Kapernick's fantasy production in check.

The Titans do have a solid defense, but it is nowhere near the level of San Francisco’s. The Cowboys’ offense is very talented, and should be able to score on the Titans, making a shootout situation appearing possible, if not likely.

Locker in a shootout against the hilariously bad Cowboys’ defense? Sounds like a winner!

Other Strong QB Options: Andrew Luck, Russell Wilson, Andy Dalton and Carson Palmer.

Carlos Hyde, RB, San Francisco 49ers

While he is still behind Frank Gore in the 49ers’ pecking order, Carlos Hyde is showing enough talent to consider starting this week. Hyde is a powerful runner with impressive athleticism. He also shows great balance and instincts, both of which are very important for a running back.

Hyde was very impressive throughout the preseason, seemingly forcing the 49ers to give him a role this season. Last week against the pitiful Cowboys’ defense, Hyde rushed for 50 yards on only seven carries. Late in the first half, the 49ers gave Hyde an opportunity to shine near the goal-line. He followed up an impressive 13-yard scamper over the right side with a powerful four-yard touchdown run.

While Gore was solid as usual last week, Hyde looked much more explosive on the ground. Gore will likely continue to get the bulk of the carries, but the rookie is certainly knocking on the door for his opportunity.

This week, the 49ers host the Chicago Bears. Last season, the Bears were far and away the worst defense in the NFL against the run. After being torn apart by Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller last week, it does not appear that the Bears made much progress in that department this off-season.

Jay Cutler leads a potentially very explosive Bears’ offense, and the 49ers would be wise to attack their weak run defense to keep the Chicago offense off of the field. Gore will almost certainly see more carries, but there will be enough for Hyde as well in this one. Against such a poor rush defense, the rookie is worth the risk.

Knowshon Moreno, RB, Miami Dolphins

After an incredible 2013 season with the Denver Broncos, Knowshon Moreno signed a costless agent contract with the Miami Dolphins this off-season. While Moreno is a steady veteran runner with some nice skills, it was fair to wonder whether his success from last season would continue without Peyton Manning by his side.

Well, if Week 1 is any indication, Moreno could be in for a stellar season with the Dolphins. Last week, against the New England Patriots, Moreno rushed for 134 yards on 24 carries. He also reached the endzone on a four-yard run late in the fourth quarter, a touchdown that all but guaranteed victory for the Dolphins.

Moreno appeared to have a chip on his shoulder after being let go by Denver in the off-season. He never seemed to generate a ton of interest on the open market, and now is looks like the 27-year-old back is out to prove his doubters wrong.

His powerful running style wore down the Patriots’ rush defense down throughout the afternoon, and in the fourth quarter, Moreno was able to get yards on the ground at will. This week the Dolphins look to go to 2-0 as they take on another fellow AFC East opponent, the Buffalo Bills.

The Bills are in the middle of the pack at stopping the run, but in an important early season game, expect the Dolphins to look to feed Moreno early and often. The game plan should be centered around the bruising back, who is clearly motivated to make his mark this season.

Other Strong RB Options: Frank Gore, Darren Sproles, Chris Johnson, Shane Vereen and Terrance West.

Justin Hunter, WR, Tennessee Titans

At 6-foot-4, 196 pounds with incredible speed and pure athleticism, Justin Hunter has absolutely massive upside as an NFL receiver. He showed his incredible talent throughout the preseason, and appears to be primed for a breakout year in 2014.

Last week, Hunter’s numbers were not anything special (3 receptions, 63 yards), but he did show his big play ability, and led the team with eight targets. If Locker can improve under Whisenhunt this season like expected, obviously Hunter becomes even more enticing.

As mentioned above, the Titans take on the Cowboys and their atrocious defense this week. Hunter certainly has a chance to make a huge impact in this one. Start him with confidence, and target him in trades. This could be the last time he will be obtainable for a reasonable price.

Cordarrelle Patterson, WR, Minnesota Vikings

Speaking of Wide Receivers with impressive skills and massive upside, Cordarrelle Patterson had a very impressive first week of the 2014 season. The second-year player only record three receptions for 26 yards, but he made a huge impact in the running game, as he ran for 102 yards and a touchdown on only three attempts.

Late in the 3rd quarter last week against the St. Louis Rams, Patterson motioned into the backfield before taking a pitch around the right side. He used his incredible speed to reach the corner untouched, and blazed his way to the end zone for a 67-yard touchdown run. Patterson broke many tackles along the way using his incredible pure speed and athleticism. He is clearly a dangerous player who can take it to the house from anywhere on the field.

This week, Patterson and the Vikings take on the New England Patriots. The Patriots really struggled to stop Moreno and Lamar Miller in the run game last week, and while Adrian Peterson will be the one to mostly benefit from that for the Vikings, it certainly helps Patterson's chances of taking one to the house in the run game.

As a receiver, Patterson may get some attention from Darrell Revis, and that is never ideal. However, New England will certainly use Revis on Greg Jennings at times too, and Revis struggled against speedster Mike Wallace last week. It is not inconceivable to think that Patterson could get deep on Revis a time or two in this game.

Between the rushing and receiving Patterson will get many opportunities to show off his incredible talents in this one. Bet on him breaking at least one, and making a huge impact.

Other Strong WR Options: Michael Floyd, Kendall Wright, DeAndre Hopkins, Jeremy Maclin, Dwayne Bowe and Allen Hurns.

Travis Kelce, TE, Kansas City Chiefs

After an impressive preseason, Travis Kelce was set up for a huge debut with the Kansas City Chiefs last week. While three receptions for 49 yards is decent production out of the tight end position, it was a disappointing result for fantasy football players everywhere.

Kelce is a big and athletic target who has huge upside at the tight end position. With the Chiefs lack of options in the passing game, it is certainly conceivable that Kelce becomes a major part of the offense at some point this season.

This week, the Chiefs take on the Denver Broncos. Peyton Manning and the Broncos’ offense look to be very strong once again this season, and are very likely to score a lot of points against a depleted Kansas City defense.

The Chiefs trailing for a majority of this game seems to be fairly likely, meaning Alex Smith will probably be throwing a lot. While his playing time was sporadic last week, Kelce is arguably the most talented pass catcher on the Chiefs’ roster. Consistently leaving him off of the field in passing situations would be completely foolish.

Not only does is his role in the offense expected to expand this week, the Broncos’ linebackers are poor in coverage. Kelce has massive upside this week, and is a great option. Give him another chance.

Other Strong TE Options: Kyle Rudolph, Delaine Walker, Charles Clay, Jermaine Gresham and Larry Donnell
