For the second time in four weeks, St. Louis Rams running back Todd Gurley has been named VAVEL USA's NFL Offensive Rookie of the Week. Gurley was the star for the Rams in their 24-6 win at home over the Cleveland Browns. Gurley had 19 carries for 128 yards and two touchdowns. Gurley punched in his first career NFL touchdown in the third quarter of the game. Gurley later added his second touchdown in the fourth quarter to seal the win for the Rams.

With this performance, Gurley became the youngest player in NFL history at age 21 with at least 125 rushing yards in three straight games. Gurley’s stats over the last three games are incredible, they are as follows:

68 carries, 434 yards and two touchdowns

Gurley has played in four games this season and he only started in three of those games, yet he is already up to 12th on the list for rushing yards this year in the NFL. All 11 players ahead of Gurley have over 100 rushing attempts this season except for Indianapolis Colts running back Frank Gore, who has 98. Gurley has 74 attempts.

However, Gurley currently leads the league in yards per game with 110.5. If he is able to keep up these fantastic performances he’s put up as of late, Gurley will likely rush for over 1,000 yards this season and could find himself in the top-five among rushers in the league, making head coach Jeff Fisher and general manager Les Snead look like geniuses for drafting him.

This Sunday, the Rams take on the San Francisco 49ers at home. The Niners are currently ranked 20th in the NFL in rushing defense, allowing 113.3 rushing yards per game. They have also allowed seven rushing touchdowns this season, which is tied for 24th in the league. Clearly, the 49ers rushing defense is not all that great so look for another impressive week from Todd Gurley.
