In a game featuring many sparkling individual performances, the West defeated the East 117-112 in the 2015 WNBA All-Star Game. In her fourteenth season, Tamika Catchings became the all-time leading scorer in All-Star Game history. In her fifteenth season, Plenette Pierson made her first All-Star Game appearance.

The game started out like any All-Star Game, with a lot of quick shots. Maya Moore started off hot and Elena Delle Donne cold, but EDD heated up through the quarter. The pace was up and down with hardly any defense being played. The East led 34-24 at the end of the first quarter.

The fast pace continued but passing picked up as players were not just looking for the shot and attempting to move the ball more often. Moore and Della Donne stayed consistently hot, Sue Bird continued her superlative passing, and Tina Charles came in to make some clutch plays. The quarter belonged to Kayla McBride who scored thirteen of her eighteen points in the second. The halftime score was 59-58 East.

The pace really intensified in the second half. This type of game was made for Shoni Schimmel as she used the showcase to display her incredible passing and ball handling skills. Alex Bentley used the playing time to show why she deserved to be there and finished the game with twenty-three points. The quarter belonged to Brittney Griner who made a dunk and a three pointer on consecutive possessions. The West took the third quarter lead, 93-91.

The defensive intensity picked up in the last quarter as both teams were going all out for the win. The first eight minutes of the quarter were back and forth with numerous lead changes. Bentley, McBride, EDD and Schimmel all had their moments. Maya Moore dominated the last two minutes, scoring eight consecutive points and putting the game away for the West.

The final score: West 117 - East 112. Maya Moore set the All-Star Game scoring record with thirty points and was named the game's Most Valuable Player. This represented the last All-Star Game for Tamika Catchings as she is retiring after the 2016 season. Due to the Olympics, there will not be a 2016 WNBA All-Star Game. The event will resume in 2017.
