The WNBA MVP is officially a race. Earlier in the season, it was thought that the trophy was Elena Della Donne's to lose. Lately others have stepped up to make the MVP race an interesting one, to say the least.

Elena Delle Donne is having a fantastic year for the Chicago Sky. She is not only leading the league in scoring at 24.6 points per game, but is tied for second (with Tina Charles and Rebekkah Brunson) in rebounds at 9.2 per game. She is also third in the league in blocked shots with 2.2 per game. Her all around game is not only leading the Chicago Sky, but has them in a playoff position at this writing. Behind EDD's leadership, they are a threat to repeat as Eastern Conference Champions.

In the last month, Maya Moore of the Minnesota Lynx has not only raised her play to an MVP level, but has raised her team back into championship contention. Moore, the reigning MVP has received WNBA Player of the Week honors in the Western Conference in the past two weeks. Moore has been on a scoring binge, scoring 20-plus points in her last eleven consecutive games. During this streak she’s averaging 24.8 points and eight rebounds per contest. For the season, Moore is averaging 21 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game, MVP worthy numbers.

With the New York Liberty in first place in the Eastern Conference, Tina Charles is having an outstanding season. While the rotation for Coach Bill Laimbeer has been solid, Charles is definitely the leader on both ends of the court. Another former MVP (in 2012), Charles' numbers are stellar this season. She is leading the Liberty in points at 17.8 per game, and is rebounding at a 9.2 per game clip. Charles was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the past two weeks.  Charles is having a very efficient season.
