Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the WNBA Draft had to be done virtually with WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert announcing the selections via video conference.

As expected, New York Liberty drafted Oregon guard Sabrina Ionescu with the No. 1 overall pick. The second pick was also a member of the Ducks, since the Dallas Wings drafted Satou Sabally.

During the draft, the WNBA had some honorary picks, including Gianna Bryant, Alyssa Altobelli and Payton Chester, who passed away in an helicopter accident earlier this year.
