Arsenal and German International Per Mertesacker has backed fellow countryman Jurgen Klopp to be a huge success in the Premier League, should he chose to manage In England.

The 47-year-old has announced his decision to end a seven year stint as Borussia Dortmund manager at the end of the season, with many speculating as to where the want away tactician may end up.

Now, the Arsenal vice-captain has had his say on the future of Klopp, who has been touted as a possible future replacement for Arsene Wenger at the Emirates.

Mertesacker said, “It's not so good for Dortmund that he is leaving, but hopefully one day he will manage abroad.”

His passion would fit and to see him in England would be very interesting. It would be nice if a German coach would take the challenge of working in the Premier League."

Everyone has their philosophy and Jurgen Klopp has proved he's top level and can teach a lot."

Klopp took charge of Dortmund in 2008, leading them to two Bundesliga titles as well as a Champions League Final in the 2012-13 season.

However they have struggled this season in both the league and cup competitions, they currently sit 10th in the table having found it hard to come to terms with the loss of top players in previous seasons.

Lewandowski and Mario Gotze have both swapped the Signal Iduna Park for the Allianz Arena in recent seasons, two of the most high profile exits under Klopp’s reign. Those two losses in particular have really hurt Dortmund’s prospects of challenging Bayern Munich for the Bundesliga title, leading to their decline this season.

It is yet to be revealed where the enigmatic coach will end up next, but  Manchester City seem to be the frontrunners as they look to offload yet another Premier League winning manager in Manuel Pellegrini.

Rumours of Klopp taking charge at either Real Madrid or Arsenal will only grow stronger if Carlo Ancelotti or Arsene Wenger struggle as we reach the business end of the season, but for now the blue side of Manchester is looking an increasingly likely destination for the German.
