Recent Chesterfield signing Sylvan Ebanks-Blake has the full backing of his manager Dean Saunders as he looks to put his career back on track.

The 29-year old's career has stalled since suffering a broken leg and sustaining ankle ligament damage while in action for Saunders' Wolves side against Birmingham at St Andrew's in April 2013.

Englishman on cloud nine at Wolves

A two-time Championship Golden Boot winner with Wolves, Ebanks-Blake has struggled to get back to his former goalscoring heights since his injury with disappointing spells at Ipswich and Preston. Albiet at those clubs he had other strikers ahead of him in the pecking order who were in great form.

Ebanks-Blake was reunited with Saunders this month, signing a one-year deal at Chesterfield with the option of a further 12 months, and the former Manchester United trainee has already been working hard with fitness coach Mal Purchase to ensure he is 100% ready to go when the 2015/16 League One campaign which begins in August.

Saunders fully backs Ebanks-Blake to shine in the Chesterfield colours as they look to challenge for promotion again this season, with Saunders knowing "how good a player," Ebanks-Blake is.

Ebanks-Blake will come back stronger

Saunders was said to be "really looking forward to working with him again," and believes he "can get him back at that [top] level."

Saunders told reporters that Ebanks-Blade has been "pretty unlucky [with injuries] since he came back." Daryl Murphy and David McGoldrick had been "banging in loads of goals," whilst Ebanks-Blake was recovering at Ipswich, whilst at Preston, "the same thing happened with Joe Garner and Jermaine Beckford."

Saunders is full of hope that an injury free spell will see the Englishman back it his former best.

"He will this time with Mal Purchase. He is already working with Sylvan. He's worked with Sylvan before and he knows exactly what to do with him. He's already started with him." revealed Saunders.
