Hull manager Steve Bruce has claimed that young striker Chuba Akpom will only get better after a goalscoring start to life in his temporary spell at the Championship club.

Akpom has joined the Tigers on loan from Arsenal after being prolific for the Gunners’ youth teams in order to gain experience against seasoned players at Championship level.

After scoring on his debut in the 2-0 win over Huddersfield, followed by netting in the Capital One Cup against Accrington Stanley, Bruce has warned the Tigers’ league rivals that he will only get better.

A Lot To Learn

Speaking about the 19 year old, the Hull boss said that whilst "he has a lot to learn", he is "blessed" with the "raw talent" that he was claimed to have coming through the ranks at Arsenal.

Despite fruitless spells at Coventry, Brentford and Nottingham Forest where he did not score a single goal in any of his previous loan spells, Akpom could have scored three in three had he converted in Hull's 1-1 draw against Wolves at Molineux. Bruce believes he will learn whilst on loan, and that "the league will teach him that."

"He turns around and runs at defenders, that’s when it’s tough for defenders. He has an outstanding chance because of his ability."

Consistency Is The Key

The Hull boss will be hoping that despite Akpom’s inexperience he will be able to keep up his consistent form. As Bruce aims to get the Tigers back to the Premier League at the first time of asking, after their relegation from the top flight last season.

Hull haven’t lost too many of their star players since relegation, with James Chester, Dame N’Doye and Robbie Brady the only first team regulars to have departed after the return to the Championship. But rumours still surround Nikica Jelavic, who scored the opener in their 1-1 draw with Wolves from the penalty spot.
