It was an electric atmosphere as Arsenal hosted Everton in one of the top games of the BPL weekend.

Two goals in two minutes get Arsenal off to great start

It was a good start to the match as the best chance for Arsenal in the first ten minutes was a Olivier Giroud header from a corner that missed the near post. They were getting chances from the right as Hector Bellerin was creating havoc as his crosses tested the Everton defence. Arsenal controlled the game for much of the first half as they had majority of possession and forced Everton to try and counter-attack them.

The best chance for Everton came in the 28th minute as John Stones half volley went wide of the goal after Arsenal were caught sleeping at a corner. It was a disappointing effort from the England international.

Alexis had a great chance in the 33rd minute as his effort when just over the crossbar as a blocked cross came straight to the Chilean.

But then Arsenal got on the board in the 36th minute as Mesut Ozil cut inside and fed in Giroud who crossed right in front of Tim Howard and beat the American with a back flick to give Arsenal the 1-0 lead.

Things went from bad to worse as Laurent Koscielny's header in the 38th minute beat Howard on a free kick as Ozil put another perfect pass and it was 2-0 Arsenal in a blink of an eye with two goals in two minutes.

Barkley pulls one back for Everton

The two goals in two minutes seemed to shock Everton as the game looked over. But they were recipients of a lucky break as Ross Barkley headed down the left hand side. He took a left footed shot that took a deflection off of Gabriel and the went right past a helpless Cech to pull one back for the Toffees as we went into the half with Arsenal leading 2-1.

Arsenal keep the pressure on in second half

It was Arsenal who got the first chance of the second half as Alexis was played through on goal but his left footed shot was pushed away by Howard's right hand.

It was a bad moment for Everton as Phil Jagielka had to leave with a right knee injury and he was replaced Ramiro Funes Mori

Howard had another good save on Alexis as once again he was played in on the break by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain but Howard came off his line and made the save.

Giroud had another chance as he chested the ball and volleyed it off the ground but Howard pushed the shot away as Arsenal kept putting on the pressure to the Everton backline who were without their captain.

He had another golden chance in the 59th minute as a cross came in and a sliding Giroud was only inches away from putting it past Howard but he missed the cross.

Giroud could have added to his great game as he received a great pass from Ozil and left one go and it curled straight into the crossbar.

But although Arsenal were controlling possession and the chances, there was a bit of nervousness in the Emirates as Everton could strike at any moment.

Everton had a great chance as James McCarthy found Brendan Galloway at the back post and his head goes just wide of the post.

Romelu Lukaku had a great chance in the 78th minute as Everton got another cross in and the Belgian got his head on it and it bounced straight off the crossbar.

Everton had a great chance when Deulofeu was open in the box as Arsenal were caught on the break but Petr Cech came out and stuffed the former Barcelona man.

Gareth Barry earned his second yellow as Everton were reduced to 10 men in stoppage time.

There were no major chances for the rest of the game as Arsenal grabbed all three points and Everton's unbeaten streak on the road is all but over.
