Switzerland sealed an impressive 2-0 victory over Peru, as the European side go in search of attaining some much needed momentum and match fitness before travelling to Brazil. The Swiss gave their home crowd an effervescent send off before they pack their bags to travel half way around the world to Brazil, for this Summer's widely anticipated World Cup, where Hitzfeld's men will come up against Ecuador and Honduras as well as an epic showdown against France, as all four nations go in search of qualification.

The game was longed at a stalemate for much of the endeavour, with Switzerland in full control of the encounter but rarely penetrating the Peru defence. Switzerland play Ecuador during the group stage, and the Swiss players and staff will hope the philosophy and maneuver exploited by the Peruvian's will replicate that of the Ecuadorians.

The game finally got a goal, with Juve full back, Stephan Lichtsteiner, opening the scoring in dramatic style in the 78th minute, heading in from Ricardo Rodriguez's cross, a player that is sure to light up the World Cup this Summer, after a scintillating season with German side, Wolfsburg, which has seen the 21-year-old attain interest from some of the top clubs in the world, who will be surely watching the Swiss fullback this Summer.

The game was soon wrapped up with Xherdan Shaqiri making it 2-0 with six minutes to spare. The Bayern Munich attacker, who has been linked with a move away from Pep Guardiola's side, will be the talisman for the Swiss this summer.

There were plenty of positives for Ottmar Hitzfeld and his staff, however they'll be aware that Peru caused them major problems down either flank on the counter attack. The best chance of the game, coincidently, fell to an on running Hurtado, who had his shot excellently saved by the Swiss shot-stopper Diego Benaglio.

This was Switzerland's final warm up game, with their opening fixture in a fortnight against Ecuador. The European outfit, narrowly won their first warm up game, last week, when Josip Drmic last gasp goal was enough to give the Swiss a hard earned win agains a poor Jamaican outfit.
