Iago Aspas' troubling 12 months in English football have finally come to an end, with the striker securing a move to Sevilla, on a season-long loan.

The striker failed to score a single Premier League goal for Liverpool last season, after arriving for around £7.6m from Celta Vigo last summer. The expectations were fairly high for the 26-year-old when he joined Liverpool, but he failed to deliver throughout the season starting just six matches. Despite getting off to an impressive start against Stoke, where he provided an assist for Daniel Sturridge's match winner on the opening day. Injuries and lack of form disrupted Aspas' season and his only goal in a Liverpool shirt came in the FA Cup, against Oldham.

Nevertheless, Sevilla have taken the former Celta Vigo man on loan for next season, hoping that he can find his form again in his native Spain. Before joining Liverpool, Aspas notched 46 goals in 136 matches for Celta Vigo, Sevilla will be hoping that he can rediscover his scoring touch as they come to terms with the loss of their star player Ivan Rakitic. Aspas will compete with the likes of Carlos Bacca and Kevin Gameiro for a first team place - which won't come easy.

It has been reported that Sevilla will have an option to sign Aspas permanently at the end of the season for around the £7m mark, with Liverpool hoping to recoup most of the money they paid for the forward. Liverpool's chief executive Ian Ayre has traveled to Spain as it is believed that Liverpool are looking to rekindle their interest in Sevilla's full-back Alberto Moreno. Liverpool would be prepared to include Aspas in a deal for the Spanish international, but it's believed that Sevilla would like the deals to be kept separate.
