Ochoa, 29, was one of the outstanding performers at this summer’s World Cup in Brazil and he has signed a three-year contract with the Spanish club.

A statement on Malaga's website read: "Malaga has reached an agreement to sign one of the best goalkeepers of the recent World Cup in Brazil, Francisco Guillermo Ochoa Magaña."

The Mexican goalkeeper signed a three-year deal after passing a medical on Friday, and he is widely expected to become the club's new starter after Willy Caballero's transfer to Manchester City at the start of the summer window. He was widely linked to join the Premier League side Arsenal but Arsene Wenger opted to sign the Colombian goalkeeper David Ospina instead in the region of £3.5m.

Malága have done excellent business signing the gifted shotstopper with Guillermo Ochoa making  more saves (428) than any other goalkeeper in Europe’s top five leagues in the last three seasons.

Ochoa is a very suitable Willy Caballero replacement (on a costless transfer at that) and will now get the chance to show he truly is one of the elite players at the position in arguably the strongest league on the planet, so this transfer truly feels like a match made in heaven.
