Following a successful Serie A campaign and Champions League qualification ahead of next season, AS Roma are scouting everywhere in search for a new striker.

With Seydou Doumbia and Mattia Destro almost certain to leave the club, manager Rudi Garcia has requested for reinforcements and an Italian international has emerged as a transfer target over the recent weeks.

Serie A merry-go-round

According to reports, the Stadio Olimpico outfit are reportedly targeting Sampdoria star Eder, having already made an offer for the 28-year-old. They have reportedly offered €10million and a season-long loan of one of the highly-touted young players - forward Daniele Verde - but Sampdoria rejected the proposal as they value Eder greatly and they also have had better offers to sell him.

Sampdoria has countered with a proposal that would include them having full ownership of promising defender Alessio Romagnoli but Roma are reluctant to lose the rights of the Italy U21 international since they see him as an important part of the future.

Roma not the only club interested in Eder

AS Roma aren't the only ones targeting the Brazilian-born forward and they could face some tough competition. Inter Milan are reportedly in the mix to sign the coveted forward, whilst clubs from Qatar and UAE have also expressed interest in him. With the transfer window set to open in July, it wouldn't be strange to see Sampdoria holding off on a possible deal, perhaps waiting for other clubs to gain some leverage in the negotiations.

Eder is coming off a great season with Sampdoria although it was cut short due to a knee injury that caused him to miss the final weeks of the Serie A campaign. Considering league and cup, Eder participated in 30 games, scoring 12 times while also representing Italy at the senior level for the first time in a 2016 Euro qualifier against Bulgaria.
