Better late than never was the mantra for Fortuna Düsseldorf following their dramatic late comeback on Wednesday against RB Leipzig, coming back from 2-0 down to snatch a point in stoppage time.

Boss Uwe Rösler will be hoping that they can go one better and win this game versus Augsburg, regardless of when the points are secured. His side currently occupy the Bundesliga play-off spot in 16th place, a precarious position given that they are only one point ahead of Werder Bremen, who visit Mainz in the other relegation clash on Matchday 33.

This double-header will be fiercely contested and cannot be missed!

In their last outing, Augsburg fell to Hoffenheim at home, so they still have work to do before their season has concluded, in competitive terms. One point will be enough for them but it will be a hard fought encounter given what is at stake overall.

Team news

Niko Gießelmann returns from suspension to provide another option for Fortuna whilst Die Fuggerstädter skipper Daniel Baier is ready to return following a recent bout of illness. Meanwhile, Tin Jedvaj will miss this game due to suspension.

Previous meeting

In the reverse fixture earlier this season in December, Augsburg ran out comfortable 3-0 winners during what was a rich run of form for Heiko Herrlich’s team in contrast to their more recent results.
