2003 Murcia

Carlos Alcaraz Garfía was born on May 5, 2003 in El Palmar, Murcia, Spain. From an early age, he showed a passion for tennis, influenced by his father, Carlos Alcaraz Gonzalez, who was the director of the tennis academy at the Real Sociedad Club de Campo de Murcia. By the age of four, Carlos was already wielding a racquet, and his talent was soon evident. In 2018, he took a significant step forward by joining Juan Carlos Ferrero's academy in Villena, where he began training under the tutelage of one of Spain's tennis greats.

Meteoric Rise: Debut and First Successes.

His debut on the ATP circuit came at the age of 16, at the 2020 Rio Open, where he won his first match in the main draw. Alcaraz not only proved his worth on the court at a young age, but also began to accumulate milestones, such as being the youngest participant in the men's draw at the Australian Open in 2021 and winning his first ATP title in Umag, Croatia, that same year. This triumph made him the youngest champion since Kei Nishikori in 2008 and the youngest Spaniard to win an ATP title since Rafael Nadal in 2004.

Conquests and Recognitions: A Road Full of Successes

The year 2022 marked a before and after in his career, winning titles in prestigious tournaments such as the Miami Masters and the Rio Open, and culminating with his first Grand Slam victory at the US Open. This victory not only gave him the title, but also catapulted him to No. 1 in the world, making him the youngest teenager ever to do so.

More than a Sportsman: Personality and Passions

In addition to tennis, Alcaraz enjoys golf and soccer, being a fervent follower of Real Madrid. His musical taste leans toward reggaeton, and among his favorite movies is "Rocky Balboa," with Will Smith as his favorite actor. These details paint a portrait of a young man who, despite his rapid rise in professional tennis, maintains his roots and passions off the courts.

Overcoming Obstacles: Injuries and Recoveries.

Alcaraz's road has not been without obstacles. Injuries such as a torn abdominal oblique muscle during the 2022 Paris Masters have forced him to withdraw from key competitions, including the 2023 Australian Open. However, his resilience was demonstrated by his triumphant return at the 2023 Argentina Open, where he won the title after 104 days off the courts.
