As many of the most devout WWE fans were enjoying other leisure activities on a summer Tuesday night, the Miz cut one of the most epic and intense promos on Talking Smack. Even thoughTalking Smack is geared in a similar fashion as a post-game show for SmackDown, Miz’s promo is getting more attention than the entire episode of SmackDown.

The Target

The person who received the full brunt of Miz’s comments was Daniel Bryan. Bryan epitomizes the true underdog as he worked the indy circuit as a wrestler before joining the first season of NXT. Ironically enough, Daniel Bryan was paired up with the Miz in the first season of NXT with the Miz being Bryan’s mentor.

Since his debut, Bryan rose to become the most popular superstar but he was forced to retire from the WWE earlier this year. While many heroes receive a polarizing reaction from the WWE universe, Bryan was one of the most beloved wrestlers in the last decade. While Bryan has not been able to be cleared to compete in the WWe ring anymore he has become the General-Manager to SmackDown Live.

Provocation and Tirade

First, the Miz barges in on the Bryan and Renee Young and the Miz is upset how the Intercontinental title is not being highlighted on SmackDown Live.  And as the dialogue continues Bryan states that he thinks the Miz wrestles soft and like a coward.First, Miz responds by saying his wrestling style allows him to stay healthy and allows him to perform every day. The second point was that Miz claims he does not get injured and does not have to miss 6 to 12 months which was a direct shot at Bryan’s inability to stay healthy.

Then, Miz points out how when Bryan left, he promised to the fans to return to reclaim the Intercontinental Title that the Miz has at this moment, but that promise has gone unfulfilled. The final argument Miz made was that if Bryan loves wrestling so much, then why does he not quit the WWE and perform for another smaller promotion? At that moment, Bryan left the stage and Miz kept on his promo that spew venom about Bryan.

What is next?

Currently, Bryan is unable to wrestle but according to Forbes magazine, but he could return to a WWE ring. The most important fact to remember is that other doctors have cleared Bryan to wrestle again and that it is the WWE medical staff that is preventing Bryan from stepping into the squared circle.

While a few months ago this seemed impossible, the actions by the Miz this week just provided the angle to have Bryan step back into the ring. And what would be a better story than the injured, forced to retire underdog. come back for one more match against an antagonizing foe for the belt the underdog never lost?
