The New York Knicks picked up an impressive team win against the Detroit Pistons at Madison Square Garden with six players finishing in double-digit scoring. The first half featured a close game with New York being up by a single point. Detroit’s defense would begin to fade away as the Knicks remained hot, shooting 50 percent from the floor after three quarters and went up by as many as 11 points.

In the final period of the game, the Knickerbockers lead would be cut to just four points. Derrick Williams would respond by exploding off the bench. Williams’ 16 of his 18 points came in the final 12 minutes of the game as Detroit would have no answer for him. As a team, New York went on a 25-11 run to take an 18 point lead with 1:42 left in the contest. The Knicks made 11 of 16 of their field goal attempts in the final quarter and ended the night shooting 54 percent from the floor while holding Detroit to 42 percent shooting.

Carmelo Anthony led all scorers with 24 points. Kristaps Porzingis contributed with 10 points while Robin Lopez had a solid game of 11 points, seven boards and six rejections. Jose Calderon, who scored eight first quarter points, finished with 15 points and drained 3 of 4 shots from beyond the arc. “I think today, everything clicked a little bit better. We found the way we want to play”, said Calderon. Kyle O’Quinn started the night hitting his first five field goals and summed up 12 points off the bench.  

Ersan Ilyasova led Detroit with 19 points. Reggie Jackson and Andre Drummond combined for an 11 of 32 shooting night. Jackson had 17 points while Drummond concluded with 13 points and nine rebounds. Marcus Morris chipped in 17 points of his own. The Pistons shot 37 percent from downtown while they allowed their opponents to convert on 50 percent of their attempts.

-New York is now 8-8 at home.

-When scoring 100 or more points, the Knicks are 11-2

-Anthony led the team in assists with six.

-O’Quinn marked his second highest offensive career game as a Knick.

-Detroit has lost three straight games.  

-The Pistons are 5-18 in the last 23 meetings against the Knicks in New York.

-Brandon Jennings made his season debut and checked in at the 2:47 minute of the first quarter after suffering a ruptured left Achilles injury 11 months ago. Jennings notched seven points and four assists.
