Things heated up fast and often in this game as both teams had mismatches for the other team. Kemba Walker posted the opening basket of the game as the Charlotte Hornets were looking for a road win to get them closer to a .500 record. The dynamic duo of the Sacramento KingsRajon Rondo and DeMarcus Cousins, had plans of their own though, as they were trying to move forward in the tough Western Conference in the battle for the eighth playoff spot.

First Quarter

The Hornets had jumped to a quick lead, up 7-2 in the opening minutes, but yet they trailed 31-16 after the first quarter. Rudy Gay was featured in the opening quarter for the Kings as he had 10 points in those first 12 minutes as the Kings looked like they were going to try and take the early lead and pull away.

Second Quarter

Troy Daniels started off the quarter by making back to back three pointers. Oddly enough that didn't cut into the Kings lead as Darren Collison made a three point play and Omri Casspi made one from 25 feet away. But then Jeremy Lin showed off some of his old "Linsanity" by scoring seven of the next 10 points for the Hornets as they went on a 10-0 run to pull the score within five points at 37-32 with 7:34 left in the period. Cousins would then score 13 of the next 19 Kings points as they would extend the lead back to 10 as they were up 56-46 to end the opening half

Third Quarter

The third quarter would belong to the Hornets. They lived behind the three point line and were awesome. They actually tied the game up at 62 each just three minutes into the quarter. Marvin Williams had seven points in that run, Spencer Hawes hit two threes, and P.J. Hairston connected on the other. The Hornets made a total of eight three pointers in the 12 minute period and would up finishing the quarter up 88-84.

Fourth Quarter

With just over three minutes remaining, the Hornets had an eight point lead after Walker had made a long two point jumper. The Kings would use Cousins to get closer, but after getting down just 110-109, Walker made four straight free throws as the Hornets would lead by five with just over a minute left. Cousins made a dunk and then Gay made a layup and there was only 27 second left. They played straight up defense and Walker lost the ball out of bounds, and Cousins got fouled by Hawes with five seconds left. Cousins made two to take the lead, but Willie Cauley-Stein fouled Walker as time was expiring and Walker made one to have it all tied at 115 going into overtime.

Overtime

The Hornets had their biggest overtime lead at 122-118 after Walker made a jumper. But Cousins drove in for a layup and made a short two to tie the game back up. Walker and Cousins would both make two free throws as it would be tied at 124 going into a second overtime.

Double Overtime

Rudy Gay had the first points of the new period as hit hit two free throws, out of five attempts. Cauley-Stein had a dunk to break the tie game, but Troy Daniels would be the hero making a three pointer with just nine seconds left, as Collison's last second shot attempt would fall without going through the basket. The final score through two overtimes was Hornets 129, Kings 128. The Hornets move to 22-23 with just their sixth road win of the season, and the Kings move to 20-24.
