Please check out yours truly's recap that will come up soon and Happy Rosh Hashana to Jewish ND fans and and Virginia fans!

Great game by Virginia and Notre Dame, clutch pass by Keyser who came in and won that game.

Q4 :04 that pass by Johns is almost intercepted!

Q4 :12 And Keyser passes it to Torii Hunter Jr to make it a 34-27 for the 2 point conversion!!

Q4 :20 KEYSER IS THE HERO!!!!!!!!! KEYSER TO WILL FULLER AND IT'S PARTY TIME FOR THE IRISH!!!!!!!! 32-27!!!

Justin Yoon's kicks are not guaranteed he has missed 3 thus far in this game.

Q4 :43 Brian Kelly calls a timeout after a good catch by CJ Prosise

Q4 1:00 ND has to move quicker after that catch by Corey Robinson.

Q4 1:20 Keyser runs it up the middle for the first down!

Q4 1:20 GREAT play by Kennedy, almost picked off! That was an amazing play by Kennedy, not necessarily a top play like not flashy but a game winning play possibly. With that ND calls a timeout.

Q4 1:23 It's 3rd and 2, Notre Dame has to convert here, or else this game is probably over

Q4 This drive will either keep ND in the playoff talk or knock them out of it, with ND having all 3 timeouts left.

This is the time legends are made will Johns be the legend or will Keyser lead ND down the field and be the legend? Will Yoon hit a game winning field goal and be the winner? We will have to wait and see!

Q4 1:54 Mike London uses his first TO of the 2nd half prior to the 2 point conversion attempt. Big missed two point conversion miss by UVA.

Q4 1:54 and Reid runs it in for the TD!!!! 27-24! And they are going to go for 2!

Q4 2:28 Great throw by Johns, to Santoro for his first career catch to make it 1st and goal! What a catch!

Q4 2:46 horrible penalty by Burbank to make it 3rd and 5 by UVA

Q4 3:02 Matt Johns throws it deep to Mizzell who has it and then drops it in the endzone!!!!!!!!!! He has to hold onto that. Johns celebrated and then he held onto his helmet in frustration.

This game was Notre Dame's game when Zaire was in the game even when they were trailing they had a good chance, but when he went out both the defense and the offense fell apart.

Q4 4:30 UVA going for it on 4th down, with it being 4th and 3. And they convert it! HUGE play by UVA there, Severin caught that ball.

Q4 5:00 Severin makes that catch to make this 3rd and 7

According to ESPN sideline reporter Dr. Jerry Punch Zaire's parents have been summond to the locker room

Q4 7:23 UVA called for illegal substitution moving them back 5 yards

Q4 7:51 great play there by Joe Schmidt to knock that ball away!!

Q4 8:28 great play by Kiser to put tons of pressure on Keyser and to get him down!

Q4 9:13 this will be horrible if ND goes 3 and out after getting that fumble

Q4 9:31 Keivare Russell blindsides Johns and he drops the football and ND jumps on it!!!!!!!!! BIG fumble recovery there, absolutely huge UVA was dominating this game since Zaire left. That was huge for ND

Q4 10:19 Johns had plenty of time and Severin beat Cole Luke but it was juust out of the reach of Severin!

Q4 11:11 Mizzell just smoked the ND defense for a giant gain!

Virginia's last win - a top 10 team was in 2005

Yours truly is sure Notre Dame fans are hoping for a Willis Reed moment in this game.

Q4 12:20 Keyser hands it off to Prosise who gets stuffed!!!!! What a play by the UVA defense!

Notre Dame is 0-7 in this game on third down, they have a 3rd and 1 opportunity here. The booth is checking the spot of the ball and it looks like ND will lose 1 yard.

Q4 12:33 Deshaun Keyser completes the pass to Will Fuller just short of the 1st down.

Q4 13:38 Prosise runs it 15 yards for the first down in another huge hole!

This game is completely a game of different quarters, in the first quarter ND went up 14-0. In the 2nd quarter UVA scored 14 points. In the third quarter ND scored 14 points and now in the 4th quarter the Cavs put up 7 thus far

Q3 13:42 left Johns with the absolutely exquiste QB run, to run it in to make it a 26-21 game!

Q3 14:11 Cole Luke with the great swat to prevent a UVA TD

That injury could potentially change this game and the Notre Dame season

The end of the 3rd quarter ends with a big run by UVA to put them on the 30!

Zaire is going to get an x-ray and he is being carted to the locker room.

The ABC cameras just showed a dejected Zaire on the sidelines.

This is Deshaun Keyer's first ever game action in college, so the Zaire injury is bad news!

Q3 :54 and the first play with Keyser, CJ Prosise runs it on the corner to put ND up 26-14!!!!!

That's really bad, Zaire is being helped off the field. the new QB Is true freshman Keyser.

Bad news here for ND, Zaire limped and then fell down after the QB run, if he is really hurt, Notre Dame's in A LOT of trouble. His right ankle was rolled up on, which doesn't look good.

Q3 1:56 Sanders with the 30 yard punt return! Barely tripped up  he could've been gone if he wasn't tripped!

Q3 2:11 and that Johns pass is almost picked off by Max Redfield but the pass was way too hight for Severin which forces a punt.

The story of this game for ND is their inability to do anything in the red zone, no doubt.

Q3 3:41 bad pass by Zaire, and the FG unit is on the field and Yoon sends it wide!!

Q3 3:44 Malik Zaire called for the delay of game, bad penalty at this stage in the game

Q3 3:44 Notre Dame has a 3rd and 6, let's see if they finally convert one on 3rd down

Q3 4:42 Malik Zaire 39 yard QB rush to the 15! Big rush there by him

Q3 4:57 ND gets Mizzell down and forces a UVA punt

Q3 5:58 Matteo gets called for the snap infraction and UVA moves back 5 yards, they are flustered after that ND TD

Q3 6:43 Mizzell stopped at the line of scrimmage to make it 3rd down, good play by Elijah Shumate.

Q3 6:59 Illegal block in the back on UVA on the kickoff after the ND TD

That was a great pass by Zaire!

Q3 7:04 Zaire airs it out and Fuller steps in to put ND up 19-14!! What a play by ND!! Is that a game changing play? Maybe!

Last week Malik Zaire looked like a sure fire Heisman candidate tearing up Texas. This week Johns looks like a Heisman candidate tearing up Notre Dame.

Even if Notre Dame wins this game they will fall a few spots in the rankings on Monday

Q3 8:55 Keiser goes past the ND offensive line and wraps up Zaire

Yours truly wonders if Brian Kelly wishes he could still put Golson in and try to win this game for ND

Q3 9:54 UVA goes for the field goal and misses wide right!! Terrible missed opportunity by UVA, dominated that drive, horrible to not get anything out of it

Q3 9:59 Max Redfield alsomost lit up Severin there

Q3 10:25 Severin makes a catch to put it on the 5.. wait there is aholding call on UVA to reverse that catch

Notre Dame has to force a fumble or get a pick even a stop in this game to change the game, cause if they don't UVA is going to upset ND easily

Q3 12:31 UVA gets called for Delay of Game, moves them back 5 yards

Q3 12:30 Cole Luke gets called for defensive pass interference, ND is shooting themselves in the foot with these penalties early in this 2nd half

Q3 13:05 bad missed tackle there to let UVA have the first down

Q3 13:40 Taquan Mizzell with the nice rush to make it 3rd and 4

Q3 14:33 Notre Dame with the horrible penalty by Andrew Trumbetti to give UVA a new set of downs

Q3 14:36 bad throw by Johns there into double coverage

Yours truly wonders what Brian Kelly said in the locker room at halftime

The 2nd half kickoff sails out of the back of the endzone and we are back!

Mike London looks energized as the 1st half comes to an end, yours truly will be back for the 2nd half.

Brian Kelly needs to wake his boys up at halftime and avoid this trap game becoming a trap.

Q2 1:35 great defensive play there by Nicholson to go stride for stride with Will Fuller and force the ND punt

Q2 2:00 Mike Mcglinchey moves as the flags fly and Notre Dame is called for the false start

Q2 2:33 Notre Dame has to take the lead again before halftime and silence this crowd in the last two minutes or so the first half

This is nowhere close to the same team that played Texas last week

Q2 3:04 What a play there by UVA for the TD! And what a horrible play by the Notre Dame defense, Johns to Johnson to make it 14-12

Q2 5:13 Keivarre Russell trips up Reid who could've been off to the races without that trip

Q2 5:19 UVA calls their 2nd timeout of the half

Q2 5:53 UVA is playing like they are the 9th best team in the country right now and ND is the unranked team not the opposite

Q2 6:37 and the Cavs defense stuffs CJ Prosise! should've tried to pass there in yours truly's opinon

Q2 7:10 On the third down run play by Zaire ND should go for it and they do

If Notre Dame wins this game Prosise is easily the player of the game if he keeps this up

Q2 9:15 Prosise again with the big run

Q2 9:37: Kennedy pushes ND back a loss of yards

Q2 10:18: Prosise finds a miniscule hole and runs it for a 1st down

Let's see how ND reacts on this drive

ND has to be disapointed with allowing that TD, they let up on UVA and UVA punished them

Q2 11:00 UVA TE Johns fires it to Butts for the TD 12-7 now

Q2 12:07: Mizzell gets stopped on about the 1 by Isaac Rochelle

Q2 12:13: UVA calls their first TO in order to avoid a delay of game

Q2 12:40: Johns fires it to Severin gets it to the 5 or so!

Q2 13:13 DA DA DA DA How Severin caught that is amazing!

Q2 13:35: Mooney gets called for the false start for UVA

Q2 14:12 James Onawalu and 2 other ND defenders get Mizzell down

And it's back!

UVA ends the first quarter with a nice completion from Johns to Severin

Q1 0:11: Justin Yun sends that field goal right down the middle 12-0 Irish lead

Malik Zaire hasn't been very accurate in this game thus far, the backs are playing well but passing has been lacking in this first quarter

Q1 1:15: Prosise with the big gain, huge hole in the middle

Q1 1:54: Jaylon Smith tips the pass, forces a punt from UVA

At this point in the game Notre Dame has 120 yard and UVA only has 4 yards

Q1 3:09: Justin Yun kicks it right through the uprights to make it a 9-0 game

Q1 3:30: Notre Dame goes for the field goal?

Q1 4:39: UVA jumps offsides once again

Q1 5:25: Malik Zaire runs for a first down going through a giant hole

Q1 6:40: ND calls their 2nd timeout already, bad timeout management thus far

Q1 7:20: Prosise makes something out of absolutely nothing, good play

Q1 7:26: Smythe hobbles off the filed, injury occured away from the play

Q1 7:30: that punt bounces and CJ Sanders gets destroyed by Wahee

Q1 8:43: Isaac Rochelle destroys the UVA runningback on that play

Here's UVA's first drive let's see if they can match ND

Mike London looks really upset after that TD by ND

That fake FG was not expected at all, very smart move by Brian Kelly

Q1 9:29: AND THEY FAKE IT!!!! TD Notre Dame, Durham Smythe with the TD! And  they try for 2 and don't get it!

Q1 9:33: Nice play by UVA there to tip the pass and force the FG

Q1 10:10: Prosise gets nowhere now 3rd and goal

Q1 11:04: UVA jumps way offsides, automatic first down

Q1 12:14: Zaire runs for 16 yards, big gain there for ND

Q1 12:23: Zaire calls a timeout

Q1 12:42: Josh Adams runs for a first down

Q1 13:43 left in the first: Zaire with the first completion of the game to Will Fuller and there is a penalty on UVA

Q1: Prosise with the big gain there, tip toeing down the sideline

Q1: Zaire pressured by the UVA D and he overthrows the ball

Q1: And we are underway! UVA kicks it off to Amir Carlisle who takes a knee in the endzone

Head Coach Mike London for the Cavs keeps using the dramatic pause in his pre game speech to his players lol

Just a reminder the game is on ABC not NBC this afternoon

What a comeback by Auburn they were down 20-6 in the 4th to Jacksonville State and they just took a 27-20 lead in OT. That could've easily approached App State- UM territory

Yours truly will reiterate this at the end of the game but if there is any Jewish Notre Dame fans, besides yours truly watching this game or any Jewish UVA fans, Happy Rosh Hashana.

Notre Dame - Virginia Live

T-Minus 10 minutes until the game gets underway

Half an hour until the 1-0 Notre Dame Fighting Irish go into University of Virginia Cavaliers, Scott Stadium

In former members of the Irish news Everett Golson has Florida State up 27-14 with 2:55 left in the 4th quarter over South Florida.

With one hour prior to game time here is another check of the weather. According to Weather.com the weather will hold up, the Irish and Cavs seem to be lucky. It will be cloudy in Charlottesville all afternoon and evening long.

According to Weather.com the weather in Charlottesville, VA will be thunderstorms all day starting at 7 AM and going until 9 PM so it will be interesting to see how that develops and yours truly will keep you updated every so often on that situation as the day progresses closer to game time and if the game gets delayed.

The key players for UVA are Taquan Mizzell, who is the star running back for Virginia. The UCLA game was smoke's as he is nicknamed first start and he didn’t disappoint the Cavs faithful, he had 16 carries for 45 yards and 6 catches for 100 yards and one touchdown. Another key player for UVA is Matt Johns the starting QB for the Cavaliers. In the game against UCLA Johns threw for 238 yards and 1 touchdown he has to improve on that performance in this one if he wants to have a chance against a potent ND defense.

The running backs are key since Tarean Folston was lost for the season early in the Texas game. They stepped up in that game, up and down the depth chart from the converted WR C.J. Prosise to Josh Adams who is a true freshman and ran his first career carry into the end zone last Saturday. Prosise has to be the leader of the running backs in this one and carry ND when they need a big run on a potential 4th and 1 situation and he needs to have the ability to break off a big run that could change the game. A key for Prosise is how he plays in this home state game; as he is from Petersburg, Virginia. Adams needs to have success in his 2nd game like he did on Saturday.

Malik Zaire had it somewhat easy playing at a packed Notre Dame Stadium last game against a rebuilding program in Texas. But playing on the road is an entirely different animal. He’s the first QB in Notre Dame history to play the University of Virginia at UVA so he has to adjust to those expectations. He can’t ask anybody else what was it like playing there because there is nobody else. This is Zaire’s first career true road game of his career, so he has to adjust to the opposing fans noise and the way the field is set up in order for ND to win in a situation he has never been in as was previously stated.

The Notre Dame players to watch for this game are Malik Zaire and this is not a player but the running backs.

Virginia head coach Mike London talked about UCLA’s O line by saying, “They did an excellent job protecting their quarterback, and you could tell very early on that the scheme was to get it out quickly, distribute it to his perimeter players, running backs, and Rosen played an excellent game.”

That’s another key when in the red zone UVA has to get 6 almost every time, they can’t settle for only three points because if they do Notre Dame’s offense will blow them out of the water.

The flip side of that is a key for the Cavaliers if they can put some pressure on Zaire and make him think about them instead of the passes, and cause some turnovers they have a great chance to win. They also have to extend drives, and stay on the field. Texas barely cracked 20 minutes of possession in the game against the Irish, which helped the Irish D line because they didn’t have to go to their bench really in the game. If UVA can cause the Irish starters to get tired from being on the field for long periods of time and have to go to the backups The Cavaliers have a good chance of putting some significant points on the board.

The offensive line also has to play well, against the Longhorns the ND O line consistently gave quarterback Malik Zaire north of three seconds in the pocket to analyze the play and make the passes necessary to keep drives going. If the O line can do that again they have a good chance of beating the Cavs.

The major key for the entire Notre Dame team both offensively and defensively is to prove last week’s dismantling of Texas was not a fluke and that they are a force to be reckoned with going forward in the season. That ties into starting fast but the defense has to play as well as they did vs. Texas where they didn’t let the Longhorns get much all game long.

Brian Kelly talked about the Cavs by saying, “We've lost some tough games on the road. But it's a mature team. There's great leadership. They recognize what it's going to take, and we'll prepare them accordingly in the fashion that we have. But I can really only recall one time [in the last two seasons] where we didn't play up to the level that we were capable of playing.”

In order for the Irish to win they have to hold onto the ball. In games when Notre Dame doesn’t commit a turnover under head coach Brian Kelly the Irish are 17-0. They also have to start fast against a decent Virginia team in their first road game of the season.

The line for this game is the Fighting Irish by 12 ½ .

Notre Dame and Virginia have played once before and Notre Dame won that game. The last time these two teams played was 1989 when the Irish beat the Cavaliers 36-13 at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. If Notre Dame wins this game it will end their four game losing streak in true road games.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish go to Charlottesville, Virginia for this matchup against the University of Virginia. In a strange fact this is Notre Dame’s first ever trip to the state of Virginia in the over hundred year history of Notre Dame Football. In their last game the Irish beat up on a bad Texas team, 38-3. The Virginia Cavaliers come into this game after losing to Josh Rosen and the UCLA Bruins last week, 34-16.
