The Notre Dame Fighting Irish go up against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at 3:30 PM ET at Notre Dame Stadium. Notre Dame comes into this game ranked eighth in the nation. The Yellow Jackets come into this game ranked 14th in the nation. The Irish look to improve to 3-0 after barely escaping Charlottesville, Virginia last week with a 32-27 win. The Yellow Jackets beat Tulane last week 65-10 and they look to improve to 3-0 on the season with a win at Notre Dame. In their two games this season Georgia Tech has outscored their opponents by a score of 134-16.

This is Deshone Kizer’s team for now barring an injury to him, for the rest of the way, however long Notre Dame plays. In Notre Dame’s first game v Texas they lost Tarean Folston for the season with a torn ACL. In the win against Virginia they lost Malik Zaire for the season with a broken ankle. It was very sad watching Zaire on A Season With Notre Dame Football on Showtime, because he was balling in the locker room and on the way to the locker room.

Georgia Tech leads the country in rushing and they are second in the country in scoring offense. That bodes well when the Jackets go up against the Irish defense who started playing very well against Virginia but then got torn up by the Cavs after the first quarter.  If Notre Dame plays this week like they did last week they will get blown out of the water.

The keys for Notre Dame in this game are to finish drives, and to contain the Georgia Tech high powered offense. In the last game for most of the game the Irish drives faltered they got a few yards on first and second down but on third the Cavs defense stumped them. Notre Dame’s defense can’t give up as many yards and points to Georgia Tech as they did to Virginia, because if they do they will get blown out.

The keys for Georgia Tech are they have to dominate the time of possession and they have to pressure Deshone Kizer. If they dominate the time of possession and tear up the ND defense they have a good chance to win. Tech needs to make the Notre Dame defense tired and keep them on the field for a while they have a good chance of putting a lot of points up on Notre Dame and winning the ballgame. This is Deshone Kizer’s St career start after he was thrown into the game last week after Zaire left with a broken ankle. If the defense can pressure Kizer into mistakes and turnovers they have a good chance to win this game as Kizer doesn’t have much college experience.

Notre Dame’s player to watch is Deshone Kizer who could be the reason Notre Dame wins this game or he could easily be the reason they lose the game. The same thing applies for the season. He has to play to his potential and not try to be Malik Zaire, he has to try to be himself.

The Georgia Tech player to watch is Justin Thomas who is the their starting quarterback. He has carved up opposing defenses thus far this season. He only played the first quarter against the Alcorn State Braves in Week 1 but in that quarter he had 1 rushing and 1 passing touchdown. Against Tulane last week he went 7-9 with 2 passing touchdowns for 97 yards. He also carried the ball 10 times for 71 yards.

Series History:

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are up 27-6-1 in the series. The last time these two teams played was in 2007 when Georgia Tech beat up on the Irish in South Bend, beating them 33-3.
