The last time St. Louis Rams Head Coach Jeff Fisher stepped foot in Nissan Stadium (formerly LP Field) was on December 19, 2010. Fisher’s Tennessee Titans defeated the Houston Texans 31-17 and a couple weeks later ended the season with a 6-10 record, after starting the season 5-2. The win against the Texans was the only win the Titans got in the second half of the 2010 season. After 17 seasons as head coach, Jeff Fisher and the Titans organization mutually agreed to part ways after the season. Fisher then took the 2011 season off. In the off-season after the 2011 season, it was announced that Fisher would become the head coach of the team that beat his Titans in Super Bowl XXXIV; the St. Louis Rams. Fisher has been with St. Louis ever since.

For the Titans, all eyes will once again be on rookie QB Marcus Mariota. In his preseason debut against the Atlanta Falcons, Mariota went 7/8 for 94 yards. Mariota also threw one interception and lost one fumble. He also had one rush and that was for negative six yards. He looks to have another decent outing against the Rams.

Mariota will be testing the Rams secondary, and it was recently announced that 2014 starting CB E.J. Gaines would miss the entirety of the 2015 season due to a foot injury. Trumaine Johnson is expected to step up just as he did in Oakland last week. The Titans also had only four incompletions as a QB unit last week and completed passes to 12 different receivers. The Rams secondary will be getting a big test today.  Mariota will also be good practice for the Rams defense as they face scrambling QB’s Russell Wilson and Colin Kaepernick twice each during the regular season.

The Rams running game was practically non-existent at Oakland, as they failed to reach 90 yards with all running backs combined. Despite the want to see Nick Foles perform, the Rams need to improve the ground game and pound the ball against Tennessee.

Nick Foles will again be closely examined, especially since Head Coach Jeff Fisher said starters would see significant playing time today. Last week Foles went 3/5 for 69 yards. It’s hopeful he’ll get to play a little longer and hopefully throw a touchdown today. It'll also be interesting to see how Tavon Austin is involved in the offense this week. Against the Raiders, Austin went for 35 yards on a screen pass where he juked five Oakland players. Tune into the game today at 7:00 PM CT on FOX
