The Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to send star running back DeMarco Murray to the Tennessee Titans. News of the trade was first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The trade does not come as a huge surprise as Murray had a terrible season in 2015, and he seemed very unhappy with his role in the Philadelphia offense.

A Star is Born

2011 Season

DeMarco Murray was drafted in the third round out of Oklahoma by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2011 NFL Draft. Murray began the season as the third running back on the depth chart but quickly found favor in the eyes of the Cowboys coaches. He finished with 164 carries for 897 and 2 touchdowns in his rookie campaign.

2012 Season

Murray struggled through the 2012 season due to a number of ankle injuries. His production was limited to 161 carries for 663 yards and 2 touchdowns in just 10 games. Murray would be in for a career season in 2013 as he would become healthy and continue to get an increased role.

2013 Season

Murray would end up playing in a career high 14 games in 2013. This is a big reason why he set career highs in rushing attempts, rushing yards and touchdowns. He finished with 217 carries for 1,121 yards and 9 touchdowns. Murray put together a nice 2013 but would surpass all of these accomplishments in the following season.

2014 Season

DeMarco Murray finally played through a season fully healthy in 2014 and played a full 16 game season for the first time in his NFL career. Behind a stacked offensive line Murray ran for a league leading 1,845 yards, and 14 touchdowns on 392 carries. Murray had a huge season, which is why he got a big payday during the 2015 offseason.

Nightmare Season in Philadelphia

Murray signed a 5-year $42 million deal in free agency to join Chip Kelly's Eagles. The fit seemed ideal for both sides and Murray was happy with his decision, until the season began. Murray had just 9 yards in his first game as an Eagle and this set him up for what would be a major disappointment for Murray and the Eagles. He finished with just 193 carries and 702 yards and 6 touchdowns. Murray appeared to be unhappy with his role throughout the season and failed to fit in Kelly's shotgun-heavy offense.

Fresh Start in Tennessee

It will be good for Murray to get a change of scenery in Tennessee. Murray can now fit into a new offense and try to help the Titans rebuild. The move looks good for both sides involved as Murray was in dire need of a fresh start and the Titans need a big play running back to help take pressure off of Marcus Mariota.
