According to the new Copa America regulations, if a match remains tied at the final whistle, the match will go straight to penalty shots rather than playing 30 minutes of extra-time. The only match excluded from this rule is the final at MetLife Stadium, New Jersey.

Costa Rica has five players with Copa America experience from 2011 (Johnny Acosta, Francisco Calvo, Oscar Duarte, Joel Campbell, and Leonel Moreira). Paraguay had 11 players particpate in last year's Copa America (Justo Villar, Fabian Balbuena, Ivan Piris, Derlis Gonzalez, Edgar Benitez, Paulo da Silva, Oscar Romero, Miguel Samudio, Antony Silva, Bruno Valdez, and Nelson Valdez).

The last Copa America match between these two nations resulted in a 1-0 win for Paraguay at the 2004 Copa America.

The rest of Los Ticos and Los Guaraníes commence training in what is a hot and steamy day here in Orlando, Florida.

We'll have more news on the national teams shortly. Any late breaking news will be added as soon as we hear of it. Make sure to follow VAVEL USA and @CopaVAVEL on Twitter to keep up to date with what's new in the Copa America.

Both nations are playing to make it out of Group A that also includes hosts the United States and Colombia. Colombia defeated the United States 2-0 on matchday one at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. The level of quality allows this group to be considered this tournament's 'Group of Death' where every point is extremely vital in order to qualify for the knockout rounds.

The recent form of Paraguay includes a 1-0 loss to Mexico. Costa Rica, however, defeated Venezuela in the same week 1-0. MLS players such as Alvaro SaborioChristian BolanosJohan Venegas, Kendall Waston, and Ronald Matarrita are available for these matches.

The referee for the match will be Patricio Loustau from Argentina. Costa Rica currently is ranked 14 spots higher than Paraguay on the FIFA World Rankings at number 25. Veteran and attacker Bryan Ruiz will be joined by Celso Borges and Joel Campbell to take the national team to the next level of success. For Paraguay, Roque Santa Cruz was left off the Copa America squad, leaving Nelson Haedo Valdez as the only goalscorer in double digits (13).

Injuries have plagued the pre-tournament stage causing common roster changes throughout the 16 teams competing. Costa Rica and Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas will be missing his second consecutive major tournament for Los Ticos due to an injury. Patrick Pemberton is his replacement and plays domestically for Alajuelense.

The previous time these two nations met resulted in a 0-0 draw on March 27th, 2015. However, Paraguay is undefeated in their first match of the last 14 Copa America tournaments. On the other hand, Costa Rica surprised spectators after surviving the believed 'Group of Death' at the 2014 FIFA World Cup that included England, Italy, and Uruguay. Paraguay has qualified for the knockout stages at 11 of the last 15 tournaments. Both nations are considered serious contenders because of their past as dark-horses.

Two other fixtures take place on Saturday, June 4th, 2016 as Haiti takes on Peru and Brazil battles Ecuador. Haiti and Peru will play at CenturyLink Field in Seattle, Washington at 7:30 PM Eastern Time. On the other hand, Brazil plays Ecuador at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California at 10:00 PM Eastern Time.

Costa Rica and Paraguay will face off for the ninth time in their history on the second match day of the Copa America. Paraguay and Los Ticos share the matches each with three wins, two draws, and three losses historically. Three of the previous five matches have finished with at least one of the national teams being held scoreless. Additionally, no match in the last five has had a team score more than two goals against the other. This will be Costa Rica's fifth Copa America appearance while Los Guaraníes will be entering the tournament for the 36th time (two-time champions).
