New Brentford boss Marinus Dijkhuizen is hoping 23-year-old striker Andre Gray will stay at Griffin Park after reports linking him with a move away.

Talking about the speculation, Dijkhuizen said: “Yes, I hope we can [keep hold of Gray],” said the Dutchman.

“I have a lot of quality players like [James] Tarkowski, Gray, Jota and also a good goalkeeper in [David] Button.

“We want to get better as a club and, as a team, better as well.”

Reports suggest Queens Park Rangers are ready to put a bid in for the striker as they look to re-build following their relegation from the Premier League

Gray has scored 16 goals in 45 appearances for Brentford since his move from Luton Town in 2014 where he had scored 47 in 88.

Dijkhuizen will be very keen to keep hold of Gray as they look to push on from last season, when they were beaten by Middlesbrough in the play-off semi-finals.
