Republic of Ireland international Robbie Brady believes that his teammate Aiden McGeady can silence Scotland when they travel to the Aviva Stadium tomorrow night.

Scotland travel to Dublin for the qualifying fixture sitting in third place, two points ahead of Ireland going into the game. In the reverse fixture back in November, it was Scotland who ran out 1-0 winners in a game that provided few chances for McGeady and his teammates.

A point to prove?

The Paisley-born midfielder has still not been forgiven for opting to play for Republic of Ireland rather than his native country. In the fixture at Celtic Park in November, McGeady was targetted by many Scottish fans, but with Martin O'Neil's men being the home team on Saturday evening, the Everton winger will receive the majority of the support.

Hull City midfielder Robbie Brady was asked if his compatriot has to prove a point to the country he once called home.

Brady said: “I’m not sure. Maybe he does himself personally think that, but he has been excellent. I thought he played very well on against England and he is raring to go.

“Hopefully, if he is asked to play, he puts in a good performance and, with his ability, if he turns it on, we will be in good stead."

An Everton impact

After an injury-hit season, McGeady has normally faired well on the international stage and Brady believes that if they both start the game against Scotland how they did with England, they will both be attacking with all they can in this crucial fixture.

Aiden McGeady won't be the only Everton player representing the boys in Green on Saturday as James McCarthy, Seamus Coleman and Darren Gibson could all play some part.

A win for McGeady's Ireland will see them jump ahead of Scotland in the table but a defeat could leave the Irish with a massive mountain to climb. With fixtures against Gibraltar and Georgia approaching, three points could come at the right time.
