Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke over the last few weeks, but it seems now that Liverpool are starting to distance themselves from a move for the Belgium striker due to his £32 million clause.

Instead, reports have suggested that Liverpool have turned their attentions to Sevilla striker Carlos Bacca and Juventus striker Fernando Llorente.

Juventus have already signed striker Paulo Dybala from Palermo and are reportedly close to signing Mario Mandzukic from Atletico Madrid, which has put the future of Fernando Llorente in serious doubt.

His near-certain availability has now attracted of Liverpool and the club are considering bidding for him, rather than Benteke, as they believe they could save money.

Llorente would be a much cheaper option and plays in a similar style to Benteke. The Spanish striker may cost around £10-15 million and is a much better option financially, for the Reds.

Colombian striker Carlos Bacca, another one who is believed to have caught the Reds' eye, has started to attract attention across Europe after a fantastic season with Sevilla, where he managed to score 28 goals in 55 games in all competitions for the Spanish side.

His tremendous form helped Sevilla finish 5th in the La Liga and also helped them win the Europa League for a record fourth time. It is believed he has a £21 million release clause in his contract and Sevilla will not listen to any offers that do not at least meet his buy-out clause.

Liverpool to go for both rather than just the one?

Liverpool could actually look to add both these strikers to their squad in the summer, rather than just the one. Together they could cost the same price as Benteke.

Liverpool may be saying goodbye to Fabio Borini, Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli this summer and may need to sign another two strikers to make up the numbers of the players they are likely to let go.

Signing both of these players would add experience, as well as goals, to the squad and they could potentially be the ones to fire Liverpool back into the Champions League.

Could age be a problem?

One potential issue, should the Reds pursue the pair, is that Carlos Bacca is currently 28 and Fernando Llorente is 30-years-old.

Liverpool's policy in recent years has been to buy young players and develop them, but fans want to see experienced and proven players in the squad, especially up-front as that’s where most of the points are often won.

Liverpool have already signed Danny Ings, who fits Liverpool's preferred transfer policy, so they may allow Brendan Rodgers to sign some experienced forwards to help them climb the table.

Liverpool have also signed James Milner recently who is 29 years old, to bring in some experience and last season Liverpool signed Rickie Lambert.

Bacca opportunity too good to pass up?

Carlos Bacca may be a player Liverpool fans would like to see at the club ahead of Llorente, as he would more likely suit Liverpool's style of play more.

Also, since joining Sevilla in 2013, he has scored an impressive 49 goals in 106 appearances and has won the Europa League twice in two seasons.

Being available for just £20 million is well within Liverpool's price range and there's no doubt he could become one of the most important players for Liverpool next season, if he was to be signed.
