Another action-packed and goal-filled weekend of Damallsvenskan action saw the status quo maintained at the top.

Top two aren’t moving

What was set to be a comfortable win on paper for Rosengård against Mallbacken this week resulted in nothing less. Rosengård were off to a flying start with an early goal from Marta Vieira da Silva just three minutes in and had a strong 4-0 lead at half-time, with goals from Lieke Martens, Emma Berglund and Ella Masar.

19 minutes into the second half Masar bagged her second goal of the game, making it 5-0 to the away side, and Iina Salmi managed to get Rosengård one last goal towards the end of extra-time. This leaves Mallbacken sat at the very bottom of the table with a disappointing goal difference, although many of the teams above won’t be hard to catch up if the squad start to perform in the upcoming weeks.

Linköping brought KIF Örebro’s unbeaten streak to a halt with a 4-1 victory. The fixture was expected to be close as the teams sat at second and third place in the table and it did begin that way. A goal in the 14th minute for Pernille Mosegaard-Harder put Linköping in the lead but there was an equaliser from Melissa Tancredi just over 15 minutes later.

By the half-time whistle Linköping were in the lead by one due to a goal from Tove Almqvist two minutes after the equaliser. The rest of the game saw no more goals for KIF Örebro but a second for Mosegaard-Harder and two second half goals in total for Linköping, the second secured by Fridolina Rolfo. After this loss Örebro now sit in sixth position, taking them considerably further from the promotion spots.

Kristianstad finally off the starting blocks

Kristianstad secured their first point of the season so far in a 1-1 draw against Vittsjö, who have also had a mainly disheartening start to the season despite a win in their first game. A goal from Johanna Rasmussen in the 89th minute made it seem that three points for Kirstianstad were on the horizon, but they were unable to hold Vittsjö off until the final whistle and Clara Markstedt bagged a late goal in extra-time.

Movement in the middle of the table

On the back of two losses Ekilstuna United have secured three points this weekend with a 2-0 win over Kvarnsveden. A goal was scored in each of the halves, both by Mimmi Larsson. This victory puts them at fifth place in the table, just one point behind the third and fourth place teams. Kvarnsveden are in eighth position, although the middle of the table is still looking close and it looks as though there will be a lot of moving around of teams during the next few weeks of fixtures.

Other mid-table battles this week saw Piteå face Djurgården and Kopparbergs/Göteborg FC take on Umeå. Piteå led 2-0 at half-time with goals from Elin Bragnum and Felicia Karlsson and this is how the result stayed. The other game saw an abundance of goals. Catrin Johansson, Pauline Hammarlund and Andrine Hegerberg made it 3-0 to Göteborg by the 32nd minute.

Just before half-time Sabrina Henriksson-Benhadj managed to bring it back to 3-1, but another two goals were added by Göteborg with a second from Hammarlund and Sara Linden also getting her name on the scoresheet. Amanda Berglund brought a goal back for Umeå late on in the game but the final score ended 5-2 to Göteborg.
