Tottenham Hotspur will look to move within a point of Manchester city at the top of the Premier League and here's a look at the players who'll be trying to make it happen when the team's clash on sunday.

Goalkeeper

Hugo Lloris almost picks himself in goal as Spurs' best goalkeeper and one of the best in the division. Lloris is also in decent form right now with three clean sheets kept in his last five games, Spurs are dominant in most games as well so it's a testament to the French international that his able to keep his concentration for when he is called into action, it's likely to be a different story on sunday though against a City team who often score for fun.

Defence

The back four for this game may well look a bit different from the one that lined up for the UEFA Champions League win at CSKA Moscow on Wednesday night. The centrebacks pick themselves really as the two Belgians Jan Vertoghen and Toby Alderweireld have built quite the partnership over the last year plus central defence is an area where Spurs lack depth.

However, it's the full backs who might be changed from the win in Russia, with Kyle Walker being picked at right back for the last league game at Middlesbrough, only for Kieran Trippier to get the nod in Europe. Trippier's inclusion you feel was simply a bit of squad rotation from Mauriccio Pochettino in a position where he could afford to rotate, but for such a big game you'd expect the international player, Walker to return.

Meanwhile in regards to who plays at left back it all depends on whether Danny Rose is fit enough to return after his hamstring injury, if he is deemed fit then again because of how big the game is you would expect him to start ahead of Ben Davies, as without being disprespectful Rose is a level above the Welsh international.

Hodling midfielders

Two of the four players who could well return from injury play in this role, Eric Dier and Moussa Dembele, even if both are fit though I'd only expect one to return. Delle Alli has done an ok job in the deeper midfield role, but you fell Pochettino would want to play two out and out holding players against such a formidable Manchester City attack.

Therefore the definitely 100% fit Victor Wanyama should remain in the team after a steady start to his Tottenham career. For who plays alongside him, but if everybody is available then Moussa Dembele will get the nod as he seems to be Pocchetino's first option in these positions.

Attacking midfielders

Two of these three roles pick themselves with the instrumental Christian Eriksen set to play behind the striker and one of the real in form players in the entire league, Heung-Min Son set to continue on the left wing after an amazing start to the season.

Erik Lamela would appear to be the obvious choice to play on the right hand side, but the former AS Roma man is not really in form right now and it's a popular opinion amongst the fans that he should have a spell out the team. He could make way for Alli who with his consistent performances is a hard man to drop out of the team completely, again much depends on the potential return of Dembele or Dier.

Striker

Spurs only have two main forwards coming into the season and one of them, Harry Kane is still out with the ankle injury he picked up against Sunderland, so by default Vincent Janssen should start. It's not be an easy start to life in North London for Janssen however, as his only grabbed the one goal in six games, but this game is a great oppurtunity to endear himself to the White Hart Lane faithful.

Team in full: (4-3-2-1) Lloris; Walker, Alderweireld, Vertoghen, Rose; Dembele, Wanyama; Alli, Eriksen, Son; Janssen
