Aitor Karanka over saw his 150th match at the helm of Middlesbrough today, and it brought about the 250th Boro win at the Riverside stadium.

This victory was a welcomed one as it was only the second of the campaign for the Teessiders.

Bournemouth and Eddie Howe will be dissapointed, however, as they maintained spell of pressure and possession. Their lack of a cutting edge upfront, though, means that the Cherries are still looking for their first win away from Dean Court this season.

Two moments of excellence wins the match for Boro.

Gaston Ramirez scored his first Premier League goal since December 2014 and he broke his duct in style, running from inside his own half to slot the ball under Artur Boruc.

Ramirez's goal was the standout moment in a game which flattered to deceive in many ways.

Middlesbrough fan group, and inhabitants of the south stand 'Red Faction' unveiled a display before kickoff celebrating Boro's 140 years as a football club.

The fans were vocal through out the first half but what was being produced on the pitch wasn't very exciting.

It took Ramirez's goal to spark the game into light.

Stewart Downing scored a second after half time and Middlesbrough sat back afterwards, trying to protect their three points.

Despite scoring two quality goals, Karanka's men still looked somewhat lackluster infront of the target. Balls into the box needed to be better and Alvaro Negredo missed another 1v1 chance.

All that matters to the Boro faithful, however, is the three points which, after a hard fought tie, was thoroughly deserved.

Travel sick Cherries blunted again.

Middlesbrough kept their second clean sheet in a row, today. This comes after one in eight games previously.

Calum Wilson couldn't cause Victor Valdes any troubles as Bournemouth failed to make many first half chances.

Benik Afobe looked the more likely to score when he came on, with his header hitting the crossbar as close as Eddie Howe's side came to finding the net.

Middlesbrough's defense deserves plaudits too, as keeping out a team who put six past a fellow promoted side is no mean feat.

Former Boro centre half and England boss Gareth Southgate was at the Riverside today, possibly to look at Ben Gibson.

The Teesside-born defender would have caught the ex Boro manager's eye as he assesses his squad ahead of the World Cup qualifiers.
