Goals from Roberto Firmino on the stroke of half time, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Sadio Mane sealed the crucial three points.

A Pierre Emile-Hojberg strike threatened to see Tottenham get back into the match but Liverpool were ruthless all night.

One slight cause for concern will be yet more defensive injury problems as Fabinho was missing with a knock and Joel Matip was forced off at half time.

The three points moves the Reds back into the top four with a huge doubleheader on the horizon.

This is what Jurgen Klopp had to say in his post-match press conference, with a full transcript available from liverpoolfc.com.

On The Performance

''I am delighted, it was a great game, super intense, we scored goals at the right moments. All good.''

On Return To Form

''That's us, massive fight and football. We were quick and counter-attacking. Lots of good things I wanted to see. We were so often in and around the box; the counter-press was really important.''

On Tactics

''Offensively I thought we coped really well with their formation. Counter press really good.''

On Transfers

''You can imagine we think about everything. I am not picky but we need to find the right player. We have some. Not a lot.''

On Thiago

''He can do much better than tonight but it was an important step. He came late, he was ill, injured then playing in a defensive position. We played him higher up the pitch.''

The Reds will now look to build on this victory with clashes against West Ham United and Brighton & Hove Albion before a potentially crunch encounter with Manchester City at Anfield.
