On Tuesday, VfB Stuttgart announced the arrival of Benjamin Pavard and departure of Jan Kliment.

The French youngster joins from OSC Lille on a four-year deal, in a move that is rumoured to have set the Swabians back €5m.

As for Kliment, he is headed for Denmark and Brøndby IF for a season-long loan with no mention of an option to buy.

Pavard reinforces the back-line

Pavard joins as a highly thought of youngster out of Lille's equally well-regarded academy, and seems to have big things ahead of him.

The 20-year-old has made 21 appearances in the top tier in France, and will join up with Stuttgart after international duty with France under-21s.

Pavard told the club website how happy he was to make the move, "I watch a lot of German football and I of course know VfB Stuttgart as one of the biggest clubs in Germany."

He continued, "I am very excited about the new challenge and I am looking forward to getting to know the team."

Kliment links up with Zorniger once more

Despite impressing at the UEFA Under-21 European Championships in his homeland, the Czech forward never really got the chance to prove his worth with VfB.

He made a meager total of just eight Bundesliga appearances for the Cannstatt Boys, but did manage to score one goal.

However, a loan to the manager who originally brought him to the Bundesliga could be the return to form and confidence that he needs.

Alexander Zorniger will be keen to show the Swabians what they're missing, both with his work in Denmark and with Kliment.

Sporting director, Jan Schindelmeiser had his say: "Jan came to us and requested that we provide him with the opportunity to gain more match practice."

He added, "He is a great lad and we will be keeping a very close eye on his progress in Denmark."
