The New York Mets and 1st round draft pick Michael Conforto finally have agreed to terms a few weeks after he was selected 10th in the First-Year Player Draft.

According to MLB.com's Jim Callis, the only details released (as the ballclub has yet to verify the information) is that Conforto and the Mets have reached an agreement that will give the outfielder a $2,970,800 starting salary. The key aspect in all of this is they have "reached an agreement."

No official contract has been singed between the two parties and Conforto made that evident when he took to Twitter early Thursday afternoon:

"Getting a lot of texts and phone calls asking if I have signed. I have not signed. Still in Redmond with my family and friends" via Twitter

After this was seen and passed along, ravaged Mets fans jumped all over Callis on Twitter saying he had "falsely" reported the "signing." Things were quickly cleared up as Callis shot back at these fans tweeting this:

"Re Conforto tweets, I didn't say he signed w/@Mets, said terms have been agreed to. I confirmed that & am sticking to that. @MLBDraft" via Twitter

A midst all the confusion it seems the report from Callis will prove to be true as we will hear of Conforto officially signing with the organization within the next few days.

Michael Conforto is a 21 year-old Junior corner-outfielder at Oregon State University where he has caught the attention of every MLB scout these past three years. Conforto finished with a .345 batting average this past season and was named the Pac-12 Player of the Year for the second strait year.

Conforto was an obvious choice for Pac-12 Player of the Year again this year as he tore it up all season at the plate. He led the Pac-12 in slugging (.547), on-base percentage (.504), walks (55), and runs scored (52). Conforto has proven excellent patience and discipline at the plate and has shown very few weakness in his ability to hit the ball.

The Oregon State outfielder is also a finalist for the Golden Spikes Award which is bestowed annually to the top amateur baseball player in the United States.

The New York Mets organization was thrilled with the opportunity to draft Conforto after selecting high school prospects the last couple years. They believe due to his age and maturity he will be able to coast through the minor leagues and find his way into the big leagues long before the Mets recent first-round picks.

Despite being a liability at times in the field, Conforto has the ability to overshadow these flaws with what he does at the plate and many scouts are certain he will prove to be a decent left-field option. A talented young lefty hitter with a beautiful swing that the Mets needed to have in an organization flooded with top-ranking pitching prospects.

If the scouts are accurate with their evaluation, Conforto was a steal for the New York Mets with the 10th pick in the draft and should be 20 home run .400 OBP (on-base percentage) type of player in the MLB.
