To say the least the road away from Citi Field hasn't been kind to the New York Mets in 2015, and Tuesday night at Miller Park against the Brewers wasn't any different. Despite a strong start from Jon Niese the Mets' defense lapses on the field and the offense is unable to pick that up as the Milwaukee Brewers squeak out a rare win at home, 3-2 over the reeling Mets.

Jon Niese got the start tonight for the Mets looking to continue to right the ship as he must know young Steven Matz is looming in Triple-A. In his previous three starts before tonight's game Niese has seen his ERA slowly drop but has had no wins to show for it.

Niese came out of the gates a bit rocky in Milwaukee, giving up an early RBI single to Adam Lind that allowed the Brewers to take a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning, but after that he settled down only allowing one more run in the next five innings pitched.

The Mets were staring at a 1-0 deficit already in the 2nd inning but a Curtis Granderson home run in the 3rd and then a Kevin Plawecki sacrifice fly in the 4th gave New York a 2-1 lead.

After the 3rd inning, though, the Mets' offense seemed to shut down. The Mets didn't record a single hit in the next six innings to end the game. The only other run they scored in the 4th was after Wilmer Flores walked, he reached second base on a Juan Lagares groundout, reached third base on a wild pitch and then scored on Plawecki's fly ball.

Jean Segura tied the game for Milwaukee in the bottom of the 6th inning on a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded. Adam Lind then came up in the 7th with Carlos Gomez on first base and hit a double to left field where the ball took a strange carom off the concrete wall that went straight between the legs of Michael Cuddyer. This allowed Gomez to come around to score and gave the Brewers a 3-2 lead and eventually the win.

Mike Fiers started for the Brewers going six strong innings only allowing two earned runs on four hits while striking out seven New York hitters.

This is the Mets sixth loss in a row, each one coming on the road and each one finding its own odd way of losing. Both the offense and defense have been hampering the Mets severely.

Lucas Duda, who was New York's hottest hitter in April and May, is batting under .200 for the month of June. The veterans Curtis Granderson and Michael Cuddyer have been struggling themselves and having Travis d'Arnaud added back to the DL for his elbow sprain, things don't look like they will be getting any smoother in New York anytime soon.

The Mets and Brewers continue their three-game series in Milwaukee Wednesday night as Bartolo Colon (9-5, 4.81 ERA) looks to get his tenth win of the year against Jimmy Nelson (3-8. 4.64 ERA) and the Brewers.
