Josh Thomson Makes His Bellator Debut At Bellator ‘Dynamite 1’

If you were already excited for the upcoming interpromotional event from Bellator and Glory “Dynamite 1” then last weeks news should take you over the edge. It was no surprise to many of us that one of the top 155er's in the world Josh “The Punk” Thomson would be headed to Bellator.

It was announced that he now has his first booking in the promotion and will be added to the already spectacular event. He will face former “Fight Master” finalist Mike” The Greek Assassin” Bronzoulis in a showdown in the lightweight division. Dynamite 1 will be headlined by Liam McGeary (10-0) and Tito Ortiz (18-11), who will face each other for the light heavyweight title. There will also be a four-man tournament for the next number one contender in the 205 weight class between King Mo (15-4, 1 NC), Emanuel Newton (25-8-1), Linton Vassell (15-4-1) and Phil Davis (13-3). This all coincides with a Glory Kickboxing card featuring Paul Daley (37-13-2) and Fernando “The Menifee Maniac” Gonzalez (24-13).“Bellator MMA: Dynamite 1” takes place on September 19 at SAP Center in San Jose, Calif.

For the past few years former Strikeforce champion Josh Thomson (20-8) has been regarded as one of the top lightweights in the world. He looks for a refreshing start after signing a multi fight contract with Bellator MMA. He is the latest of the former UFC fighters to make the jump while still at the top of his game. His debut fight should be a fun match up against the bruising striker Mike Bronzoulis (18-8-1). Since losing to Joe Riggs in the “Fight Master” finale, Mike has gone 3-2 with victories in Titan FC and Legacy. He looks to be successful in his return to the Bellator cage.

It was also announced that Glory will have fights featuring Zack Mwekassa (13-2, 12 KO) and Saulo Cavalari (31-2, 19 KO) for the vacant Glory Light Heavyweight Championship. Gabriel Varga (26-2, 8 KO) will also defend his featherweight title against challenger Serhiy Adamchuck (29-5, 14 KO).
