News broke this week that Wade Barrett will not resign with WWE and once his deal expires he will move on from the company. Barrett has had a bad run of late with a lot of injuries, which have meant that he has not seen a lot of in-ring action. It has been said that rumors of this story began early in the week but it must be said that neither WWE nor Barrett has officially confirmed this to be true.

Barrett first appeared on season one of NXT as Chris Jericho’s rookie, where he put in some great displays as he went on to win the season. But it was the aftermath of NXT that put Wade Barrett and the other season one rookies on the map as the “Nexus” would go on to make an emphatic statement on their first night on RAW taking out John Cena and CM Punk, the Straight Edge Society, the announce team, the timekeeper and Justin Roberts before they destroyed the ring area and surrounding equipment.

They put a lot of focus on John Cena with each member of the group hitting their finishing maneuver on “the face of WWE”. They would continue on their path of destruction until the anonymous RAW GM would give Nexus their contracts. The other huge highlight for Nexus was at Summerslam when they took on Team WWE (John Cena, Daniel Bryan, Edge, Chris Jericho, Bret Hart, R-Truth and John Morrison) to try and overhaul the system and create a new era in WWE.

What a way to go out as a group facing some of the biggest names in the business. Barrett would then go on to some rather useless gimmicks such as Bad News Barrett and King Barrett but he recently joined the League of Nations and things were looking to be on the up, however it appears that things were not going the way that Barrett wanted and he was getting tired of being given tired lame gimmicks and he thought enough is enough.
